Highlights

  • New subsidiary "Pokemon Works" set up by The Pokemon Company, located in ILCA's building.
  • ILCA worked on titles like Pokemon Home, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl for TPC.
  • Speculation points to potential Game Freak x ILCA collaborations for future Pokemon projects.

The Pokemon Company created a new subsidiary that has set up shop in the same building as ILCA, the developer of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. In addition to this collaboration, ILCA is the developer of the multi-platform storage application Pokemon Home. It has also worked on the titles One Piece: Odyssey and Sand Land for Bandai Namco.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were released late in 2021 for the Nintendo Switch as a project from ILCA and Game Freak. These were long-awaited remakes of the Nintendo DS games from 2007, in the spirits of Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green (Gen 1), HeartGold/SoulSilver (Gen2), and OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire (Gen 3). The games' release timing also helped to tease Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which came out on Switch shortly thereafter.

Pokemon Anime Producers Comment on the Possibility of Ash Returning to the Show

The producers of the Pokemon Horizons anime weigh in on whether or not fans will ever see original protagonist Ash and his Pikachu partner again.

CentroLeaks has confirmed the existence of a new company called "Pokemon Works," as well as its office's proximity to ILCA. Nothing else is confirmed at this point, but CentroLeaks is speculating about the possibilities this could indicate in terms of more Game Freak x ILCA collaborations. If they are working together on a Pokemon game remake again, there is much speculation as to how they could make an improved Gen 5 remake, among other potential projects.

Pokemon Works

  • New subsidiary of The Pokemon Company
  • Offices in the same building as ILCA
  • ILCA has worked on Pokemon Home, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

The tweet goes on to explore the speculation in further detail. First, CentroLeaks talks about the possibility of more staff being employed to create the next game in the primary Pokemon adventure games. As well, it suggests that The Pokemon Company could have more "control" over the staff that they "borrow" from ILCA. Finally, the suggestion is made that Game Freak focus on the main series Pokemon games, while the new Pokemon Works subsidiary can take care of the minor games.

Although Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were not the most well-received Pokemon games, they still made their mark among trainers. There is still an active community in the Grand Underground of BD/SP. Pokemon Home is used for universal storage of Pokemon through Switch or mobile, compatible with Pokemon Legends, Pokemon GO, and all current Pokemon adventure games for Switch.

Beyond the existence of the company and its location, nothing else is officially confirmed at this point. Pokemon Works and ILCA share residence in the same building. There is no official word on whether they will collaborate again, although there was a recent update to Pokemon Home in December.
