The new Pokemon anime finally has an official name, Pokemon Horizons: The Series, which was revealed by The Pokemon Company along with the new logo and first trailer for the upcoming series. Pokemon fans get a better look at the main characters from this new show, whose first episode is set to release in Japan on April 14, 2023.
Pokemon fans worldwide said an emotional goodbye to Ash Ketchum and his faithful Pikachu as their adventures ended after 25 years of grinding to become the very best Pokemon trainer. To replace this iconic duo and the infamous Team Rocket, The Pokemon Company announced a new Pokemon anime series that follows the story of Liko and Roy, two trainers from the Paldea region introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. To help these new heroes on their journey across the Pokemon world, The Pokemon Company will be adding in a variety of side characters including Professor Friede and Captain Pikachu, an adventurous duo sporting aviator gear.
The Pokemon Company shared the first trailer for the upcoming anime, revealing that the name is Pokemon Horizons: The Series. The trailer shows the main protagonists Liko and Roy with their companions Pokemon Sprigatito and Fuecoco as they try to unveil the mysteries of the Pokemon world and uncover the secrets behind Liko’s pendant and Roy’s Poke Ball. The video reveals exclusive footage from the upcoming episodes of the new Pokemon anime, highlighting side characters like Professor Friede and Captain Pikachu as well as the new team of villains replacing Team Rocket, The Explorers.
The official trailer for Pokemon Horizons: The Series introduces new characters as well and showcases the Rising Volt Tacklers, a group traveling across the Pokemon world on an airship. This group, led by Professor Friede and Captain Pikachu, includes a mechanical and electrical engineer called Orla and her partner Pokemon Metagross, Murdock the cook and his Rockruff, the healer of the group called Mollie and her Chansey, as well as Ludlow. Besides the Rising Volt Tacklers, Liko and Roy will also come across Nidothing, a popular streamer who hides their true identity behind a full-body mascot suit.
The new Pokemon anime will not focus on the journey of a specific individual but will showcase more of the Pokemon world, unveiling its mysteries and highlighting its wonders. The first episode of Pokemon Horizons: The Series will premiere on April 14 in Japan and will be available worldwide later in 2023, with more details announced in the near future.
