Ever since the Switch launched in 2017, Nintendo has ensured that there has been a steady stream of games released for its home console/handheld hybrid device. These games have ranged from brand-new titles, remakes and remasters of classic Nintendo games, and enhanced ports from the Wii U.
Persistent rumors have suggested that Nintendo is gearing up to leave the Switch behind and start focusing on its successor console, whatever form that may take. While official details on the Switch 2 remain scarce, it does seem like Nintendo is winding down its focus on the original console. The latest indication of this is the company's latest financial report, which highlights some upcoming Switch games.
Switch 2 Will Have Larger Screen That Might Not Be OLED, Tech Analyst Says

The upcoming Switch exclusives highlighted by Nintendo include Mario vs. Donkey Kong, set to launch on February 16, and Princess Peach: Showtime, which is currently scheduled for release on March 22. Nintendo has also announced Luigi's Mansion 2 HD for Summer 2024, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year for an undetermined date in 2024, and Metroid Prime 4, which still has no release window at all.

With Luigi's Mansion 2 HD and the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake still lacking release dates, fans are expecting a Nintendo Direct presentation to take place at some point in the near future. Nintendo Direct events have traditionally been held in February, and it would make sense for Nintendo to host the event to give fans an update on the Switch games that are in the pipeline.
Of course, many are also curious about when Nintendo will reveal the Switch 2 console. It's possible that if the rumored February 2024 Nintendo Direct takes place that Nintendo will use it to reveal the Switch 2 console, but the more likely scenario is that the system will be unveiled as part of some kind of dedicated showcase event. Whatever the case may be, it's clear that the Nintendo Switch's biggest games are behind it, and Nintendo has an eye toward the future. Even so, there are still some major exclusives yet to release for the Switch, and so fans have plenty to look forward to in the months ahead.
