EA confirmed its 2023 and early 2024 slate of upcoming projects in a recent financial report, and two games that fans were hoping were coming soon seemingly are not. Both Skate 4 and Dragon Age: Dreadwolf were left off the publisher's upcoming schedule which lists its releases through March 2024.

Skate 4's absence may be most disappointing to fans. While there are other titles gamers can turn to while they await Skate 4, EA's newest iteration of the series will now be rolling out at least 13 years after 2010's Skate 3. EA handed the series to its newly established Vancouver-based studio, Full Circle. Both Deran Chung and Cuz Parry, a pair of Skate's original creators, are on board to help develop the fourth entry in the series.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf's 2023 absence is no doubt disappointing to its awaiting fan base as well. However, given the vastly larger scale of the project and its various development hiccups, many fans may have suspected the team at BioWare would need more development time. Dreadwolf began development in 2015 before production was suspended multiple times as BioWare worked to solve the problems both Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem suffered at launch. In February 2021, it was reported that the live-service aspects of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf were going to be removed entirely to shift the project toward a single-player-focused design following the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. This later led to rumors that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf would be influenced by 2018's God of War.

Skate 4 Leaks

EA's new Skate entry is also trying something different. Full Circle is developing Skate 4 as a free-to-play title set in the fictitious city of San Vansterdam. The project is targeting releases on Mac, mobile, PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. No launch window has been announced, though the game has only been in official development since June 2020.

EA is still in solid shape with its remaining slate of 2023 projects. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is one of the most popular games out. On the upcoming docket are the popular sports titles Madden 24, NHL 24, EA Sports FC, F1 23, and Super Mega Baseball 4. And the publisher hopes to make a splash with its upcoming first-person shooter, Immortals of Aveum, when it releases on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X on July 20th.
