When it comes to the new co-op games for August 2023, the one leading the pack is quite easily Baldur's Gate 3. Hype for Baldur's Gate 3 is at an incredible high, and it helps that the entire game can be played in co-op. Baldur's Gate 3 gets extra points for not only offering the standard online co-op, but local co-op options as well. Considering the sheer size of Baldur's Gate 3, its co-op support is impressive. Barring any unforeseen hiccups, it's easy to see how Baldur's Gate 3 might not only be one of the best co-op games of 2023, but one of the best games of the year period. PC gamers can play Baldur's Gate 3 in all its co-op glory come August 3, while those on PlayStation 5 will have to wait until September 6.
Baldur's Gate 3 may be taking most of the spotlight when it comes to new co-op games for August 2023, but it's certainly not the only new co-op game releasing next month. Fans can also look forward to action-RPG Atlas Fallen come August 10 and Hammerwatch 2 on August 15. Those looking for an Overcooked-style co-op experience can also look forward to the wild antics of Moving Out 2 on August 15.
August 17 is perhaps the most exciting day for co-op games after Baldur's Gate 3's August 3 launch date. While that day won't see a brand-new co-op release, it will see co-op added to Vampire Survivors. One of 2022's surprise hits, Vampire Survivors will add 4-player co-op support across all platforms to coincide with its Switch port. Vampire Survivors was already extremely hard to put down as a single-player experience, and one has to imagine that it will be even better in co-op.
Nintendo Switch gamers have more than Vampire Survivors to check out when it comes to fresh co-op experiences for August 2023. They can also try the co-op modes featured in Samba de Amigo: Party Central. And finally, gamers across most all platforms will also be able to play Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy on August 31, the latest entry in the long-running co-op series.
