Episode 2 of Netflix's One Piece Live Action series covers the Orange Town Arc, which is where the Straw Hat Pirates meet Nami and face off against Buggy in the manga.
In One Piece Live Action, things are quite different as Luffy, Zoro, and Nami are all taken to this town forcibly, where they face off against Buggy together. This arc spans over the entirety of the episode and is incredibly fun. As always, the showrunners have made sure to sneak in quite a lot of easter eggs in the Orange Town Arc of One Piece Live Action and only the fans with the sharpest of eyes would have caught these.
8 Whiskey Peak, Cactus Island
Luffy's flashback continues into episode 2 of Netflix's One Piece Live Action series. When the whiskey bottles come up, the writing on them is quite clear and they read 'Old Cactus Whiskey.'
This is most certainly a reference to Whiskey Peak, which is on Cactus Island. It appears that this rum could be sourced from there, specifically from Whiskey Peak, which is the only inhabited town on this island. This also raises the anticipation for the Grand Line adventure of the Straw Hat Pirates to begin as it will likely come up in season 2 of the show.
7 Mother Ocean
The mother ocean is referred to by Dr. Vegapunk in One Piece's Egghead Island Arc. According to him, Mother Nature turns its back on those who consume the unnatural Devil Fruits and that is precisely why they end up sinking.
Makino makes a reference to the mother ocean in Luffy's flashback, and she says that the ocean turns its back on those who consume Devil Fruits, which is very similar to what Vegapunk said.
6 Captain Kuro Wanted Poster
Captain Kuro appears as one of the major antagonists in the Syrup Village arc later on in the series, however, his bounty poster is actually revealed in the Orange Town Arc.
Once the safe that the Straw Hat Pirates got from Captain Morgan is opened, the map to the Grand Line, as well as a bounty poster can be seen there. This is likely a nod to the obsession that Morgan had with Kuro and just goes to show how meticulously all this was planned by the showrunners.
5 Chapter 198 Colorspread Shirt
In the vast majority of the Orange Town arc, Luffy is seen wearing the same shirt that he wears in chapter 198's color spread. This shirt is all white with a red collar and this is certainly a very fun nod to acknowledging Oda's work on the various color spreads in the series.
Curiously, this is not the only instance that the fans see colorspread outfits being used in One Piece Live Action. As the story moves forward, there are tons of other outfits from color spreads that make their way into the live-action.
4 Richie
Richie, the pet lion of Mohji, and his partner while fighting, does not appear in Netflix's One Piece Live Action series. However, he is certainly referred to when Buggy asks for the lion to appear in his carnival.
At the same time, a drawing of Richie can be seen on one of the walls in Buggy's carnival. Since Buggy is going to continue his role in Netflix's One Piece Live Action series, it is possible that, at some point, Richie might appear in the series. For now, the showrunners at least acknowledged his presence by sneaking him in as one of the easter eggs.
3 Goa Kingdom
Goa Kingdom is referred to in the second episode of Netflix's One Piece Live Action series. This Kingdom is where Luffy was born and grew up along with his brothers. This mention comes when Zoro meets Cabaji, who tells him that he was chasing him and his brother down across the Goa Kingdom long ago.
Zoro ended up killing his brother and stuffing his head in a bag, all for a bounty. The fact that Goa Kingdom was name-dropped in the Orange Town Arc of One Piece Live Action only means that it will come up later as well.
2 Chouchou and Boodle
Chouchou and Boodle are two characters that end up playing a significant role in the Orange Town arc in both the anime and the manga. These characters have their roles almost cut out from the live-action series.
However, they certainly are present there. The mayor, Boodle, is seen talking to Buggy on various occasions. He's the one stretching Luffy's limbs apart and the one who thanks him at the end of the episode. Chouchou, the fan-favorite dog, only makes an appearance at the end of the episode for a brief second.
1 Memories OST Remix
Memories, a very popular One Piece song, sung by Maki Otsuki, which served as the Ending 1 of the One Piece anime also makes it to One Piece Live Action. A remixed version of this OST is used when Shanks places his hat on Luffy's head and asks him to find him one day and return this hat to him when he is a Great Pirate.
Only the keenest of fans will have picked up this easter egg in the Orange Town arc. Regardless, it is a very nice touch and just goes to show how the One Piece Live Action series is in touch with both the anime as well as the manga.
