Video game fans around the world eagerly await the release of the latest Netflix anime adaptation, Dragon's Dogma. Based upon the action-adventure of the same name, Dragon's Dogma is an action epic set within a fantasy realm filled with deadly beasts, and a dragon hellbent on the destruction of the entire world.

To build the excitement of the upcoming series, Netflix has released a Character Showcase trailer, displaying who will be starring in the series, as well as the voice behind each character.

The Character Showcase trailer follows the release of the first trailer of Dragon's Dogma on August 24th. The Character Showcase debuted on YouTube but was quickly retweeted by members of the cast, including renowned voice actress Erica Mendez. The trailer showcases the various characters set to appear in Dragon's Dogma, each with their own respective voice actor.

Coming off of his work on Final Fantasy VII Remake, Dragon Dogma's protagonist, Ethan, will be voiced by Greg Chun. Erica Mendez, who reprised her role as Retsuko in Aggretsuko Season 3, voices the warrior, Hannah. The primary antagonist of Dragon's Dogma, Dragon, will be voiced by David Dodge, who recently voiced PJ Clarkson in Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise.  The rest of the cast includes Cristina Vee (Dorohedoro), Jeannie Tirado (Tower of God), and Ryan Bartley (Japan Sinks 2020).

This is the first anime adaptation of Dragon's Dogma, but not the first time a video game has been adapted into an anime series for Netflix. Konami's Castlevania was adapted into an anime series for Netflix, launching in 2017 and seeing an extraordinary amount of success since debuting. Based on the video game franchise of the same name, Castlevania follows the story of Dracula and his revenge against humans, as well as their entanglements with the Belmont family. Recently, Netflix announced an animated adaptation of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, based on the series of stealth-action video games of the same name, with John Wick writer Derek Kolstad attached.

Dragon's Dogma is set to be another exciting addition to Netflix's Original Anime portfolio, which includes an anime adaptation for Cyberpunk 2077. The voice cast is stellar and the animation is sharp. It will be interesting to see where the Netflix adaption takes the lore of Dragon's Dogma and how it incorporates parts of the video game into the overall series. Netflix has been on a roll this year in regards to original anime from BNA: Brand New Animal to Japan Sinks 2020 and Aggretsuko.

Dragon's Dogma streams on September 17th, 2020, exclusively on Netflix.
