Fans of Amazon and BBC co-production Good Omens have reason to be hopeful. In an interview with Radio Times, esteemed fantasy writer Neil Gaiman stated that he 'would love' to write more Good Omens.

The TV adaptation of Good Omens debuted in 2019 to almost universal critical acclaim with an 84% critic rating and 90% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Based on Gaiman's novel, co-written with the late Terry Pratchett, the series followed the misadventures of Aziraphale the angel and Crowley the demon, played by Michael Sheen and David Tennant respectively, as they work together to prevent the apocalypse. Though it adapted the novel in full, Gaiman said, "I really need to do something to get more Good Omens to happen."

More recently, Gaiman wrote a short lockdown special that was uploaded onto Terry Pratchett's YouTube channel to mark the 30th anniversary of its original publication. Both Sheen and Tennant reprised their roles as Aziraphale and Crowley catch up with each other during isolation.

And it was another TV show made in lockdown that fired up Gaiman's imagination. Staged had both Sheen and Tennant playing fictional versions of themselves displaying the same chemistry that made Good Omens a hit. "Watching Michael and David in Staged gave me so much joy, and a sort of weird, proud, kind of semi-parental joy, because I was like, 'These are my boys. I put them together.'"

Alas there's no solid plans for a second season just yet. Gaiman is currently involved with a Netflix adaptation of his best known work, the gothic fairytale graphic novel series Sandman so it may be a while before anything's officially confirmed. But with both leads keen to keep on working together and Gaiman's enthusiasm for the project, it may not take another 30 years for more of Aziraphale and Crowley.
