NBA 2K24 has unveiled the patch notes for the game's 1.3 update, including a variety of fixes both to its gameplay and popular modes like MyCareer. The release of the newest entry of 2K Sports' annual basketball franchise has been a controversial one for longtime fans. While some elements of the series like the beloved MyCareer mode and player animations saw improvements, many fans have railed against the lack of substantial upgrades. Now, 2K Sports' newest patch looks to roll out several minor changes in a stopgap update.

While NBA 2K24 has received plenty of negative reception, the release of the annual basketball game did address some major requests from fans. NBA 2K24 would introduce cross-play for the first time in franchise history, though connectivity across platforms would be limited to current-gen versions of the game. 2K24's single-player modes is also a particular highlight of the game, with its "The W" women's career mode receiving new career paths and improvements to the Player Builder. 2K24's newest update both brings short-term fixes and promises long-term change as well.

NBA 2K24 recently revealed the patch notes for the current-gen version's Update 1.3, showcasing changes to MyCareer, the City, and gameplay improvements. General improvements would see perimeter defense checks tightened up in an effort to combat what 2K refers to as "ghost contests." The City saw several general stability changes, including functionality improvements to the Social menu and bug fixes. MyCareer also received several bug fixes as well as making a change to the RISE affiliation's "Heat Check Booster," now only needing three made shots to activate.

NBA 2K24's newest patch also came with notes from the developer confirming more changes are in the works for the game. 2K Sports revealed that, alongside the minor fixes in Update 1.3, a larger "all-encompassing patch" for NBA 2K24 was currently in the works with an expected release date in October. The post would allude to several larger fixes highlighted by members of the game's community that would require more work internally in order to properly address.

NBA 2K24's new and upcoming fixes follow a lukewarm reception for the newest game in the annual franchise. NBA 2K24 would be panned by fans for a lack of meaningful improvements from the previous game and even recently took the dubious record of Steam's lowest-rated game. The record was previously held by Blizzard's Overwatch 2, which saw similarly negative reception following the cancelation of the game's promised PvE content. 2K Sports will hope to mend its relationship with disgruntled NBA 2K fans with 2K24's upcoming updates.
