Once again, finding a great team to be a point guard for is tough. To be sure, there are a few teams with bad point guards in NBA 2K23, and players can find themselves starting fairly quickly. This has been an issue, so at least gamers have options this time around.

But the biggest issue is that teams who are bad at point guard tend to have problems everywhere else. It's like an NFL team with a bad quarterback. There are certainly easier positions to find a fit for, but for those who justifiably love the point guard spot, these are the best places to land in NBA 2K23.

Updated on June 26th, 2023 by Hodey Johns: With the NBA season concluded, it appears the game has delivered one final verdict when it comes to player rating and roster adjustments. After the Finals concluded a series of trades and draft picks were made but NBA 2K23 has not made any changes. This stands to reason since these transitions will reflect on NBA 2K24 instead of this installment. The reason this is significant is that, without any more adjustments to the roster, gamers can now start a career in this game, pick a team, and not have to worry about getting bumped in the depth chart or having playing minutes reduced after a big trade goes down. This is probably the best time to start a MyCareer and this list will not need any further adjustments as any future changes will be reserved for NBA 2K24.

The Heat have only one weak spot outside of the point guard position at power forward. While Martin is indeed awful, Adebayo can always help out underneath the rim. Finding a spot in the starting lineup should happen very quickly; Lowry is not only the lowest-rated starting point guard in the game, he also lost his starting job during the season.

The other three players outside of Martin (Herro, Butler, and Adebayo) are great and ready to score. Grab a few of the elite playmaking badges and take this team to the top. They don't need too much more to contend, the MyPlayer is more than enough for a year one championship.

No team at this time has a point guard below 80 with every other player above 80. There are only two teams that have only one other player below 80 after the point guard is replaced. The Washington Wizards are one of those teams.

Gafford at center is a real issue, especially in the era of elite centers. However, other than this weakness, the team is actually pretty solid. Pick up some amazing shooting badges and take a few more risks, knowing that Kristaps Porzingis will help out underneath the rim for any misses. Gafford's weakness under the rim can be a positive for gamers who want to have their point guard crash the boards for rebounds.

Bad news first: the Spurs are one of the worst teams in NBA 2K23 by the ratings. No starter is above 83 and only one starter is higher than 80. Taking over the starting role should be easy as Tre Jones is no threat. Make a perfect custom jump shot and prepare to be the team's lone scorer.

This is the right landing spot for a point guard to get all the glory. Nobody else on this team will compete for rebounds, assists, scoring, or defense, leaving it all up to the MyPlayer. Looking to stuff the stat box and be the only star on the squad? San Antonio is the team to choose.

Outside of point guard, the only weakness for the Timberwolves is McDaniels at small forward but he's not too bad and pretty easy to compensate for. Perhaps the best selling point for Minnesota as a career destination is that the two bigs, Towns, and Gobert, have the paint locked down.

Computer-controlled teammates are often terrible close to the rim, requiring the player to help out as a guard. But that's not the situation here. Instead, players can happily use the best defensive badges to lock down guards at the perimeter and focus purely on that.

Only four teams have a starting point guard at 80 or less and they're already listed. It'll take a few extra days of work to get the starting job for any other team so it's important to select a solid crew that makes the effort worth it. The Celtics, perennial Finals contenders, are just that team.

With two 90+ players on the squad and every position at a minimum of 80, Boston is strong but could use an elite point guard to get that championship title they're shooting for. The two bigs aren't two highly rated so consider making a slasher and picking up some top-tier finishing badges.

NBA 2K23 is available now for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
