Playing shooting guard can be a dream come true in NBA 2K22. It's the go-to position for scoring. With the newest shot meter, better badges, and improved animations, three-point shooting is officially back in style. Taking it inside for some flashy dunks is also a valid strategy. And, of course, the position has a significant advantage in generating steals.
However, the dream can turn into a nightmare for shooting guards who find themselves on the wrong team. Some teams don't have the talent around them to give the shooting guard a chance to succeed. To avoid getting stuck in a bad situation, these are the best teams to play a shooting guard with in NBA 2K22.
Updated on May 1st, 2022 by Hodey Johns: Shooting guards are in a much better position than point guards this year. Not only do they have a better lineup of teams, but the catch-and-shoot mechanics as well as the three-point shot meters are both much improved. There has never been a better year to play a shooting guard of any kind, finally getting some time in the sun after being overshadowed by point guards and bigs for years on end. With the end of the regular season, there won't be any trades or team shake-ups, so this list has been completely altered for players who are jumping in now that the season has wrapped up.
What To Look For
The ideal team for a MyCareer player is one where the team has a need at the player's position but the rest of the team is solid. If the shooting guard on a given team is too high, the player will spend their entire career on the bench. If too many other positions are weak, teams can move shooting guards into other positions, like point guard and small forward, where they have distinct disadvantages.
Shooting guards need players around them who can pass and receive the ball. Eventually, opponents will employ double coverage against the shooting guard and then the team needs to be able to receive a pass and score.
New York Knicks

It's easy to look at the New York Knicks and find that they are one shooting guard away from a title. Immanuel Quickley is a 28 and will be easy to overtake for the starting job. The rest of the team is 82 or better. There aren't any true 90+ OVR superstars, but the team is well-rounded and allows the MyPlayer to be the focus for all offensive plays. This lineup will be complete, from top to bottom, and ready for success if the MyPlayer wants to bring back the first championship to New York basketball since 1973.

Somehow, during the course of the season, the Bucks got better as a unit but their shooting guard position got worse. Going into the year, the starting shooting guard had a low 76 OVR. That has now sunk to an abysmal 76 OVR. This team will have players starting fast and putting on multiple championship rings within the first few seasons.
Fresh off a big championship series win, they are ready to go at a second title. Of course, Giannis Antetokounmpo draws so much attention that it will free the shooting guard to get away with some seriously stylish dunks. Even playing slightly above average will give this core group of players every chance to win.
New Orleans Pelicans

The shooting guard situation has gotten slightly better for New Orleans since the start of the year, but that's not saying much as the starting 75 OVR is now only a 78 OVR and still holds this team back. Thanks to the signing of C.J. McCollum, any shooting guard here will be receiving clean, accurate passes. And don't sleep on Zion Williamson, one of the best power forwards around, who assures that the interior will be a strong point of the team. The rest of the team is 83 OVR or better, really just one piece shy of a title.

Playing with last year's MVP, Nikola Jokic, is an honor as a shooting guard because of his uncanny ability to pass from underneath the rim, making him one of the best centers in the game. Replacing Will Barton and his 78 OVR can be done within a few games. Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr are the weakest spots on the team after the shooting guard is filled in, but having two 80 OVR forwards would be a strength for most teams, so don't worry about them blowing any games.

The Toronto Raptors have been strong playoff contenders and won it all with Kawhi Leonard just a few years ago. They've filled in his spot admirably and boast a team that still competes on the floor every year. What's keeping them away from another title run? Their shooting guard is the one area that could use the MyPlayer for a return to glory. This is another team that doesn't possess anybody who will take the game over, but that's preferable for a point guard that enjoys stuffing the stat sheet.
