Players who love Naruto can finally build their dream teams across the franchise’s characters through Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage. In this mobile game, Naruto fans get to manage their own version of Konoha and create teams to finish missions. However, perhaps the main appeal of Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage has less to do with creating teams and more about its customization component, where fans don’t just collect characters across the franchise but even modify the kinds of abilities they use.

In a game with hundreds of characters and even more signature Jutsus attached to them, Ninja Voltage is a fan’s dream come true for creating custom-tailored Naruto characters. However, for newcomers to the game, just what are the best early-game teams for Ninja Voltage?

8 Squad 7: Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno, Kakashi Hatake, Yamato

Squad 7

One of the best starting teams in the Naruto game would easily have to be the Shippuden OG - the new Squad 7. Frontlining the team would be Naruto Uzumaki (Attacker), whose attacks offer quite a lot of versatility in the game. Unlocking Ultimates such as “A Rampaging Power!”, “The Final Gamble!!”, and “Naruto vs Pain” can give players a lot of options as to how Naruto can pummel his foes.

Backing him up is Sakura Haruno (Assist), arguably one of the best supports in the Naruto game with persistent healing at low level (Disciple Of The Fifth Hokage!) and decent attacks. Offering more versatility are Kakashi Hatake (Utility) with his attacks that cause status effects, and Yamato who can offer consistent AOE and crowd control. Fans of Kakashi, who possess a lot of unique techniques, would delight in having him on a team.

7 Squad 7 Reborn: Boruto Uzumaki (Genin), Sarada Uchiha (Genin), Mitsuki, Kawaki

Squad 7 Reborn

When the Fourth Great Ninja War ends with renewed peace, it’s up to Naruto’s son Boruto and his friends to keep the world from falling into a new age of chaos. In the Naruto sequel, this is reflected in a renewed Squad 7 led by Naruto’s apprentice Konohamaru. Interestingly enough, Ninja Voltage also has a version of this team, named Squad 7 Reborn. This is headlined by Boruto Uzumaki (Genin, Utility), whose more diverse toolkit opposes Naruto’s aggressive style with more access to debuffs such as Confusion and Paralysis.

Boruto is aided by Sakura and Sasuke’s daughter Sarada Uchiha (Genin, Assist), whose mother’s strength and father’s technical acuity combines into a high-damage toolkit with slow and stun effects. Meanwhile, Orochimaru’s secret child Mitsuki (Skill) enters the fray with a wide range of AOE attacks, with newcomer Kawaki (Utility) boasting an aggressive toolkit with massive attacks.

6 Squad 3: Might Guy, Rock Lee, Neji Hyuga, Tenten

Squad 3

If there’s a team to rival Squad 7 in terms of popularity in Naruto lore, it’s probably Squad 3. In Ninja Voltage, this is one of the rare teams with an actual mentor as part of the team composition, with Squad 3 headlined by Might Guy (Attack) who can pummel foes with quick knockback attacks. Ever-doting apprentice Rock Lee (Defense) is appropriately his defensive half, with attacks that continuously boost his evasion and speed (Green Wild Beast’s All-Out Kick!, Hidden Leaf’s Green Wild Beast).

Supporting the two (2) would be Neji Hyuga (Skill), who can inflict burst damage to opponents who might take advantage of Guy and Lee’s single-target focus. Lastly, weapon specialist Tenten (Utility) can continuously inflict debuffs on opponents to leave them more vulnerable for her team. Fans of Might Guy, who is one of the strongest Jonin in the series, would have a lot of fun with his straightforward fighting style.

5 Squad 10: Asuma Sarutobi, Ino Yamanaka, Shikamaru Nara, Choji Aburame

Squad 10

One of the most unique ideas introduced in Naruto lore would be the Ino-Shika-Cho trio, wherein the Yamanaka, Nara, and Akimichi clans almost always have their children team up together. This almost always results in some of the most powerful shinobi teams in existence, evidenced by Squad 10 in Ninja Voltage. Headlined by defender and mentor Asuma Sarutobi (Defense), his attacks that can decrease enemy defense (Chakra Nature Change) leaves enemies much weaker for his team to finish.

Graceful Ino Yamanaka (Assist) has her Confusion-inducing attacks (Mind Transfer Jutsu, Alright!) that can debilitate enemy performance. Meanwhile, genius Shikamaru Nara (Utility) relies on various debuffs to further incapacitate their foes. Lastly, Choji Akimichi (Attack) is built like a tank, armed with various powerfully-damaging attacks to finish enemies.

4 Squad 8: Hinata Hyuga, Hinata Hyuga (Summer Break), Kiba Inuzuka, Shino Aburame

Squad 8

Due to how multiple iterations of characters exist as different units in the Naruto game, Ninja Voltage can theoretically allow players to spam as many characters in a team. In this instance, iconic Squad 8 gets a slight makeover for the more customizable RPG. This is primarily noticed when Hinata Hyuga (Summer Break, Skill) offers decent crowd control abilities (Captivating Young Lady, Full-On Summer) in tandem with Hinata Hyuga (Assist) that takes advantage of them with her AOE attacks.

Aiding them in the front lines would be Kiba Inuzuka (Attack) that offers a vicious heavy-damage finisher with paralysis (You Can’t Escape Our Noses), and Shino Aburame (Assist) that provides additional firepower through his burst-AOE specialization.

3 Sand Siblings: Gaara, Gaara (Allied Shinobi Forces Commander), Kankuro, Temari

Sand Siblings

Of all villains in Naruto history, it’s Gaara from the Hidden Sand Village that made a mark in the hearts of fans as someone Naruto truly resonated with as well as being someone utterly terrifying. This is especially during his initial appearance with the Sand Siblings, as they make for a trio that offers no mercy in matches. This is reflected in the same team composition in Ninja Voltage, headlined by Gaara (Defense) who can tank damage (The Incarnation of Sand Intercepts) and dish it back (I’ll Seal You), and the massive defensive buffs of Gaara (Allied Shinobi Forces Commander, Defense) with team invincibility (A Mother’s Love).

This pairs well with the utility toolkit of Kankuro (Skill) who can inflict debuffs and give substantial buffs to the entire team. Lastly, Temari (Attack) capitalizes on her team’s defensive potential with powerful attacks. This team is a dream come true for tanking fans who love to dish out damage without even breaking a sweat.

2 Legendary Sannin Lineage: Jiraiya, Orochimaru, Tsunade, Sakura Haruno (Great Ninja War)

Legendary Sannin Lineage

Throughout Naruto's history, perhaps none have been both revered and feared than the Legendary Sannin. And while all of them have aged through the years, the Naruto series showed they were also the ones to train Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke to become their apprentices, ushering a new version of the Sannin in the dawn of a new era. In Ninja Voltage, the relationships of these six (6) members are reflected in Legendary Sannin Lineage, with Sakura Haruno (Great Ninja War, Assist) being the most accessible for newcomers due to her familiar toolkit and balance of attack and healing. This is an interesting team choice, as this team is comprised of Naruto’s most dangerous Shinobi in the lore.

Accompanying her is defensive Jiraiya (Defense), whose skills rely on huge burst attacks to ensure enemies can’t get near his allies. Likewise, Orochimaru (Utility) boasts a Poison-inflicting kit, ensuring enemies suffer via damage over time. Lastly, Tsunade (Assist) ensures the team’s survival with her potent healing and damaging arsenal.

1 Snake Followers: Orochimaruu, Jugo, Karin, Suigetsu Hozuki

Snake Followers

It’s no surprise that a villain thirsty for knowledge and immortality like Orochimaru would do drastic measures to achieve his goals. In the Naruto series, Orochimaru experimented with various individuals to the point of granting them enhanced abilities, which players can now take advantage of in Ninja Voltage via Snake Followers. This team is headlined by Orochimaru (Utility), who boasts a deadly toolkit with extremely lethal Poison damage-over-time skills.

This team is solidified with Jugo (Defense), whose Cursed Mark allows him to do immense damage while buffing himself to ensure the team’s survival. Swordsman Suigetsu Hozuki (Attack) is a frontline aggressor, relying on straightforward damage to debilitate enemy forces. Lastly, Karin (Assist) has a decent defensive toolkit dedicated to protecting her team with buffs and healing.

Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage was released in 2017 and is currently available for Android and iOS.
