Nowadays, Sakura focuses on maintaining the Uchiha household as her daughter Sarada became part of the new generation's Team 7. However, what exactly did Sakura do after the Fourth Great Ninja War concluded the Naruto series? What had transpired prior to Sarada's birth? As it turns out, Sakura's had a few adventures of her own.

Updated on October 11, 2021 by Rhenn Taguiam: Sakura Haruno remains one of the most iconic characters in the Naruto franchise. Boasting sheer strength and healing prowess, Sakura proves to be one of the Hidden Leaf’s most talented ninja. While fans know that Sakura ended up together with fellow protagonist Sasuke Uchiha, there’s more to Sakura’s life after Naruto than just being a housewife. In fact, after Sasuke’s leave of absence post-Shippuden, Sakura has become quite busy with her own endeavors herself. Prior and sometime after Sarada Uchiha’s birth, Sakura has cemented her place as a legend among Konoha’s strongest ninja.

14 Sasuke and Sakura's First Date

Sakura in the Ocean where she and Sasuke dated

While fans already know that Sakura and Sasuke end up together, it’s what led to this partnership that mystified even the most devout of SasuSaku followers. To those out of the loop, it appears Sasuke and Sakura did date, albeit unconventionally.

When Sasuke came back from his sabbatical away from Konoha, he and Sakura finally had the opportunity to spend time together. Apt for a romantic setting, they chose a spot overlooking the ocean for their first date. Unfortunately, with Sakura ever the bane of romance, their date only lasted for 2.5 minutes.

13 The Five Kage Summit, New White Zetsu Army

The Five Kage Summit

Given Sakura’s attachment to Sasuke, one might assume she’s one of the first to object to his many adventures away from Konoha. However, Sasuke’s reconnaissance outside the village would prove useful when Sakura accompanies him to a Five Kage Summit for an urgent report. According to Sasuke, he uncovered evidence of Kaguya Otsutsuki having prepared a White Zetsu Army separate from the ones in the Fourth Shinobi World War in the face of some greater threat. Although the army remains inactive, Naruto instructed Sasuke to investigate this matter further.

In the case of Sakura, she agreed with the decision to keep this information secret. That way, they can continue safeguarding Sarada and her generation’s peaceful lives away from war. Sakura’s attendance in these meetings may explain why she’s understanding of both Sarada’s longingness for her father and Sasuke’s faraway missions.

12 Nue's Assault Of The Hidden Leaf

Mitsuki and Boruto running from Nue

Despite Sakura’s status as the Medical Clinic’s director and a Medical Ninjutsu teacher, she remains extremely active in the front lines. During Nue’s assault in Konoha, Sakura was one of the first respondents to tend to the injured throughout the crisis.

Sakura’s presence did help resolve these kinds of situations quickly. In the case of Nue’s attack, Sakura being able to treat the injured allowed Kakashi to organize a defensive unit to apprehend Sumire Kakei and her beast.

11 Preparing For Sarada's Graduation

Boruto Sakura vs Shin Uchiha

While Sarada appears the calculating yet understanding leader figure of Team 7, she and Sakura did have a rocky relationship near her graduation. At this time, Sarada has become quite eager to learn more about Sasuke, who’s been mostly absent throughout her childhood due to his missions. Sakura kept on hesitating to answer Sarada’s questions pertaining to Sasuke’s childhood in order to keep his history a secret, much to the ire of the child.

In fact, such was Sarada’s irritation that she questioned her entire parentage. This led her to search for Sasuke herself, which then prompted Sakura to head after her. It was around this time that Shin Uchiha, a delusional test subject of Orochimaru, revealed himself and his intention to become a “copy” of Itachi Uchiha. Thanks to the intervention of Sakura, Sasuke and Sarada managed to defeat Shin Uchiha, which resulted in quite the family reunion.

10 Spreading Healing, Stabilization In Missions

Helping with healing - Sakura After Naruto Series

Unfortunately for Sakura, when Sasuke did confess his feelings for her, he did have to depart on a journey of repentance. Not one to stay idle, Sakura herself got busy helping in the post-war effort.

For instance, a year after the War, Sakura became a part of a Konoha team sent to stop an impending jailbreak in the Blood Prison. The ensuing chaos causes a flying ship to crash - but thanks to Sakura and her team's efforts, they manage to save the passengers and heal them afterward.

Meanwhile, a year after that, Sakura became Naruto's confidante when Shikamaru began acting cold towards him. Sakura assured Naruto that Shikamaru was only preparing for his role as Naruto's adviser, especially by the time he becomes Hokage. However, Sakura and Naruto become part of a team to rescue Shikamaru when he ends up missing in the Land of Silence. A joint team between the Hidden Leaf and Sand Villages managed to rescue Shikamaru and help Temari fend off a brainwashed Sai.

9 Fighting Toneri Otsutuski, Rescuing Hanabi

Rescuing Hanabi - Sakura After Naruto Series

In the Rinne Festival two years after the Great Ninja War, Hinata plans on giving a scarf to confess her feelings to Naruto. Albeit supportive, Sakura tries to get Naruto and Hinata to spend more time together. Unfortunately, Sakura's efforts get halted when Toneri Otsutsuki - a distant relative of Kaguya Otsutsuki - kidnaps Hanabi Hyuga in the hopes of unlocking the Tenseigan, a powerful dojutsu.

Sakura joins the Hanabi Rescue Team to help save the Hyuga heiress. Their journey brings them to the Moon, and ends unexpectedly when Hinata - perhaps under a spell - voluntarily joins Toneri. The Rescue Team retreats after the ensuing battle, and Naruto confesses his feelings for Hinata as Sakura treats him. Sakura also tells Naruto about her love for Sasuke.

In the Rescue Team's counterattack, they manage to successfully defeat Toneri. Sakura finds the tattered remains of Hinata's gift and gives it to Naruto after the battle. Finally, it's this intervention that Sakura managed to have Naruto and Hinata confess to one another.

8 Helping With Post-War Trauma

Spreading Healing - Sakura After Naruto Series

While Sakura and her fellow Medical-nin have assisted with the healing and recovery of those injured in the Fourth Great Ninja War, not all of them could cope with the mental strain of the situation. Children, in particular, struggled to recover from post-war PTSD - especially when dealing with the death of their loved ones.

To help children who experienced this kind of mental strain, Sakura and Ino opened a mental health clinic in Konoha Hospital. Thanks to their efforts, their mental health program managed to help children cope with their situation. However, it became apparent to Sakura's friends that she may have been using her dedication to distract herself from her long-distance relationship with Sasuke.

7 Sasuke The Destroyer

Sasuke the Destroyer - Sakura After Naruto Series

Sakura and Ino visit Sunagakure to help them build a mental health facility of their own. However, Kazekage Gaara immediately calls upon them to inform them of tragic news. Apparently, they caught wind of a plot to destroy Konoha from a man matching Sasuke's chakra signature and appearance!

While the three of them don't believe such a possibility, Gaara still emplored Sakura to inform Hokage Kakashi of this news personally to avoid panic. Sakura does so as soon as they returned to Konoha. Thankfully, even Kakashi doesn't believe Sasuke would do such a thing.

Sadly, rumors of Sasuke "going rogue" soon spread around the village. Kakashi sends Sasuke a message, but the latter doesn't reply. Sakura confides in Naruto her concerns, and Naruto doesn't believe in the rumors as well.

6 Discovering About Chakra Mimicry

Chakra Mimicry - Sakura After Naruto Series

At the height of rumors about Sasuke turning rogue, Sakura meets with Tsunade to discuss their theories of chakra signature mimicry. They eventually come to the conclusion that someone may have "extracted" Sasuke's chakra signature from enough hair and skin samples.

Sakura takes this information to Sai, now a part of Konoha's Intelligence Unit, who was also studying chakra mimicry on an unrelated case. While Sakura looked into chakra mimicry, Sai and Ino found themselves investigating about Kido Tsumiki, a rogue ANBU who formed a rogue faction.

Having discovered a common link between their investigations, Kakashi assigns the three to a makeshift investigative team. Unfortunately, someone abducts Sakura in the middle of her investigation.

5 Recreating The Sharingan

As it turns out, Sakura's abductor turned out to be none other than Kido himself. While imprisoned, Kido explained his plan to lure out Sasuke using his romantic connection with Sakura. He also plans to kill Sakura upon Sasuke's capture to empower his Sharingan, which in turn would empower the fake Sharingan of his Sasuke Clone.

Fortunately for Sakura, she manages to gather enough chakra to break out of her restraints and fight Kido. Interestingly, even Kido managed to create synthetic tailed beast cloaks. Sai and Ino keep up with her and the trio fight the rogue ANBU. Upon his defeat, the three attempt to chase down Kido's henchmen. However, they soon see that Kido's men were already defeated by genjutsu and flames - a signature of Sasuke's powerful jutsus. Albeit sad that Sasuke didn't stay, Sakura was happy that he rushed to her aid.

Interestingly, Kido's story would become reminiscent of the Shin Uchiha Arc in Boruto. In that arc, a synthetic being - complete with a synthetic Sharingan - would call himself Shin Uchiha and claim to "inherit Itachi's ideals."

4 Cooking The Best Soldier Pills

Sakura and Ino argue - Sakura After Naruto Series

At some point before Naruto and Hinata's wedding, Sakura and Ino end up eyeing (and fighting for) the same picture frame as a gift to their friend. When Ino insults Sakura about not being fit for marriage, Sakura challenges Ino in a cook-off. As their challenge dish, the two had to make the best soldier pills - or Military Rations Pill that can provide both physical nourishment and chakra.

The two choose Choji, the Konoha 11's resident food lover, as their impartial judge. When Choji collapses with a nosebleed, the two accuse each other of poisoning their pills. However, there weren't any traces of poison in their pills - only that the other used their competitor's favorite dessert. When Choji wakes up, he compliments both dishes and explains his collapse as a result of high blood sugar. In the end, Sakura and Ino make amends, skips the picture frame, and shops for separate gifts. Sakura attends Naruto and Hinata's wedding alone, knowing that Sasuke is doing a mission elsewhere.

3 Sasuke's Book Of Sunrise

Book of Sunrise - Sakura After Naruto Series

With Sasuke still away, Sakura has developed anxiety and frustration over their long-distance relationship. It didn't help that Hokage Kakashi also asked her help in investigating one of the cases assigned to Sasuke.

Apparently, shinobi from the Hidden Leaf, Cloud, and Mist have disappeared. And when Taidachi Yamanaka gets involved, the trio sought the help of Ino, Shikamaru, Choji, and even Hinata to find the perpetrators. With their efforts, they managed to stop an attack in Konoha and subdue Taidachi, who they discover is under the influence of genjutsu. Having averted crisis, Sakura helped heal her comrades and her injured brethren.

Sakura finds herself relieved when she discovers that Sasuke himself managed to apprehend those responsible for Taidachi's genjutsu. In a letter that Naruto writes to Sasuke, he mentions that Sakura compared Sasuke's duties to protect the village in secret as the fulfillment of his childhood dreams to join the Konoha Military Police Force. It's implied that her words in the letter motivated Sasuke to go back to Konoha.

2 Accompanying Sasuke, Travelling Birth

Giving birth to Sarada - Sakura After Naruto Series

At some point during their marriage, Sakura had started to accompany Sasuke as she refused to leave his side. Sakura continued to join Sasuke in his adventures despite being pregnant with Sarada.

When Sakura went into labor, Sasuke accompanied Sakura to one of Orochimaru's secret lairs where Karin assisted with Sarada's delivery. The couple returned to Konoha shortly after Sarada's birth, with Karin keeping Sarada's umbilical cord while giving a pair of her glasses to Sarada as a souvenir.

This nature of Sarada's birth becomes a relevant part of Sarada's growth. After all, Sasuke's absence and Karin's glasses made Sarada think as though Karin was her mother, unaware of the events that had transpired during her birth.

1 Acquiring A Career In Medicine

Career in Medicine - Sakura After Naruto Series

Given her tutelage under Tsunade, it makes sense for Sakura to become a sought-out Medical Ninja. At some point after Sarada's birth, Sakura eventually became the director of Konoha's Medical Clinic. In turn, Sakura also became Konoha's top healer.

Interestingly, Sakura also began teaching Medical Ninjutsu to Genin in the Academy. This direction makes sense, given that her teacher Tsunade - also one of the three great Sannin - devised and refined the basic principles of Medical Ninjutsu in the first place.

Since there weren't many Medical-nin at the time of the Fourth Great Ninja War, it makes sense for Sakura - perhaps at the suggestion of Tsunade - to raise a new generation of Medical Ninja.
