Naruto Uzumaki is the protagonist of the Naruto series and an incredibly amazing ninja. When it comes to his talent as a shinobi, Naruto wasn't blessed with all that much, however, it is his incredible hard work and the trust that he earned from his friends that helped him reach the very top.

Naruto had to fight his way to the top and to do that, he had to defeat several powerful opponents. Throughout the run of Naruto, he has engaged in combat against some of the most incredible enemies and while he has succeeded in beating some, he has succumbed in combat to others.

8 Kakuzu

Kakuzu is certainly one of the most powerful characters that Naruto has encountered. This fight was somewhat special for Naruto Uzumaki as it allowed him to test himself to the very limits after his training with Kakashi. Naruto had developed a new technique, called Rasenshuriken, and this was the perfect way for him to test it out.

In the end, Naruto successfully managed to defeat Kakuzu with his Rasenshuriken, destroying three of his hearts in a single attack and dealing cellular damage to him.

7 Orochimaru

Orochimaru, one of the Legendary Sannin, is also among the strongest enemies that Naruto has faced in his life. Orochimaru was confronted by Naruto on many occasions, however, when he met him on Tenchi Bridge, the two fought a very interesting battle.

Surprisingly, Orochimaru was able to keep up with Naruto in his Four Tails form and this was nothing short of impressive. He even managed to deal damage to him, which just goes to show his talent as a ninja. Nonetheless, this battle ended up in a draw as Orochimaru retreated and Naruto kept going berserk.

6 Pain

One of the very best battles that Naruto has fought came against Pain. Being the leader of Akatsuki, fans expected Pain to be incredibly powerful and he certainly delivered.

Despite having been exhausted because of a powerful Shinra Tensei that blew the entire village up, Pain was still able to hold his own against Naruto in his Sage Mode and even when he entered his Six Tails form. In the end, Naruto was able to defeat Pain through sheer perseverance, however, this was not an easy fight by any means.

5 Toneri Otsutsuki

After the end of the Naruto series, during the blank period, Naruto Uzumaki encountered a powerful force named Toneri. Having resided on the moon for quite a while, Toneri wanted to destroy the world that Hagoromo created and start from scratch.

As such, Toneri clashed with Naruto Uzumaki and this led to a very interesting confrontation between these two individuals. Naruto, despite having a chunk of his powers taken away from him in the fight, was able to completely overpower and destroy him in battle single-handedly.

4 Obito Uchiha

Obito Uchiha is one of the strongest enemies that Naruto has fought in his lifetime. After becoming the Jinchuriki of the 10 Tails, Obito was on a completely different level altogether. Naruto had to face him with Sasuke, and, these two, together, were able to overpower him somewhat.

In the end, Naruto was able to get his thoughts through to him and the rest was done in collaboration with the Shinobi Alliance. The Tailed Beasts were pulled out of his body and Obito ultimately lost.

3 Sasuke Uchiha

Naruto's biggest rival, Sasuke Uchiha, is certainly among the strongest enemies that he has fought. These two have engaged in combat on several occasions, however, the most amazing battle that they fought came at the Valley of the End towards the end of the story. At this point, both Naruto and Sasuke were incredibly powerful and were able to read each other's thoughts clearly.

Naruto and Sasuke tested their skills to the very maximum in this fight, and, despite Sasuke having the power of the Tailed Beasts at his aid, he ended up falling to Naruto and combat and in the end, had a change of heart because of his best friend.

2 Madara Uchiha

Madara Uchiha was quite an obstacle for Naruto to overcome in the 4th Great Ninja War. Madara posed a challenge to him on many occasions, however, when he became the 10 Tails Jinchuriki, he was on a completely different level. To take down Madara, Naruto collaborated with Sasuke and the two were certainly in an advantageous position against him.

Unfortunately, Zetsu struck before this fight could play out and made way for the return of Kaguya. This battle did not have any clear winner.

Undoubtedly, Kaguya is the strongest enemy that Naruto fought in the Naruto series. She returned when Black Zetsu used Madara's body as a vessel. As soon as Kaguya returned, the difference in strength between Naruto and her was clear.

To defeat her, the entire Team 7 had to pull together their strength. Of course, the heavy lifting was done by Naruto and Sasuke, however, without Sakura and Kakashi, this battle could not have been won. In the end, Kaguya was sealed by Naruto and Sasuke using Six Paths: Chibaku Tensei.
