Konoha is the most prominent and important location in the world of Naruto. Among all the Hidden Villages, it stands as the strongest and, by far, the most influential in the history of the ninja.

It was through Konoha that the system of the Shinobi villages came to be, thanks to Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha joining hands to end the Warring States Era. It is no surprise that, over the years, this place has been attacked countless times by either enemy villages, or those who sought to destabilize the system of the Shinobi world.

5 Madara Uchiha Attacking The Village

Madara Time Rewind Technique

Madara Uchiha was most likely one of the very first people to attack the village of Konoha. Interestingly, he was one of the founders of the village, along with Hashirama, and was the man who ended up giving the name "Konoha" to it as well. Madara wanted to be Hokage of the village and Hashirama promised him the title, however, when Tobirama and the village chose Hashirama over him, he decided to defect from the village, seeing no hope for himself and his people.

Madara later returned with fury and the power of the Nine-Tails at his aid. While he intended to destroy Konoha, he was stopped in his tracks by none other than Hashirama Senju. In a way, Madara never truly attacked Konoha, however, had he defeated Hashirama that day, the village would most certainly have been destroyed.

4 Obito Uchiha Attacking The Village

Obito Uchiha

Obito Uchiha walked in the footsteps of Madara, his mentor. After the death of Madara, everything fell on Obito's shoulders and he took on the identity of Madara as well. Thanks to his space-time ninjutsu, he was able to sneak into Konoha and find out when Kushina was giving birth to Naruto. On that very day, he freed the Nine-Tails from within Kushina and used the power of the Sharingan to get it to obey him. Together, the two attacked Konoha but were stopped in the path by none other than the Fourth Hokage of the village, Minato Namikaze.

Minato ended up severely injuring Obito and sealed half of Kurama within himself, while the other half was sealed within his newborn child, Naruto, who later went on to master its powers and save the entire ninja world.

3 Konoha Crush

Orochimaru

Konoha Crush is one of the most significant arcs in the early part of Naruto. During this time, the Chunin Exams in the village of Konoha were going on and Orochimaru saw this as a perfect opportunity to exact his revenge on the village and launch a full-scale attack. Using the Sand Village to his aid, Orochimaru laid down an almost perfect plan and succeeded in destroying quite a portion of the village. He killed the Fourth Kazakage and impersonated him, leading his village to attack Konoha.

In the end, he was taken on in combat by none other than Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage of the village. Hiruzen gave his life to protect Konoha and sealed Orochimaru's arms, taking his Jutsu away from him permanently. At the same time, the forces of the Hidden Sound and Hidden Sand aided Orochimaru, and together, the damage they did to Konoha was significant. It was thanks to Naruto that Gaara was eventually stopped and the village of Konoha was spared.

2 Pain's Invasion

Vessels of Six Paths of Pain

Perhaps the most significant attack on the village of Konoha was led by the leader of the Akatsuki, Pain. Pain was collecting all the Tailed Beasts one by one. And, he took on the task of acquiring the Nine Tails by himself. Preparing for battle with all of his Six Paths and Konan, Pain headed to Konoha where he wreaked havoc and killed countless people. Towards the end of his invasion, he used the powers of his Rinnegan to wipe out the entire village.

It was only after that that Naruto Uzumaki finally showed up and took him on in battle. After a hard-fought fight, Naruto emerged victorious and went to confront Nagato, the person controlling Pain. He managed to change Nagato's heart and, consequently, save the lives of thousands of people. Konoha was rebuilt after this incident, however, it would never reach the same scenic glory again.

1 Momoshiki Otsutsuki

In Boruto: Naruto the Movie, the village of Konoha is under attack once again. However, this time, the attack is led by a space alien, Momoshiki Otsutsuki. Momoshiki was able to feel Naruto's strong power and he decided to seek it in person in order to get stronger. The search for his led him to Konoha and he clashed with Naruto while the Chunin Exams were going on. Since Naruto couldn't go all-out at the moment, Momoshiki won the fight rather easily.

However, Naruto certainly made sure to protect the village while doing so. He was later taken to a different dimension, where the Kage, led by Sasuke Uchiha, rescued Naruto. Naruto then went on to take Momoshiki in combat properly and successfully defeated him, with Boruto Uzumaki landing the final blow.
