Naruto is one of the most popular shonen anime ever made. The exploits of the eponymous ninja as he strives to attain the approval of everyone in the Leaf Village make for a great underdog tale. This Jinchuriki aims to be the Hokage and definitely proves himself in this regard by gaining great powers and defeating hard-hitting opponents over and over again.

For the most part, series writer Kishimoto tries to write antagonists who aren't truly evil and have some motivations for their misguided deeds. However, there are times when certain characters are introduced who are just so morally corrupt that it's hard to justify their actions at all. Here are some of the most heinous characters in Naruto who shouldn't be redeemed, even if the series itself gives a solid reasoning for it.

10 Orochimaru

Orochimaru

Orochimaru is the first genuine villain to appear in the series, going so far as to kill the Third Hokage in his first serious battle in the series. He's also responsible for carrying out several inhumane experiments on unwilling subjects.

His heinous actions never stop, even after the series tries to wash away his crimes by making him somewhat helpful near the end of the Fourth Shinobi World War arc. The sheer brutality of Orochimaru's crimes makes him one of the evilest characters in Naruto by a country mile.

9 Madara Uchiha

Madara Uchiha head shot

Madara is one of the most powerful members of the Uchiha clan and one of the clan's leaders for the longest time. He was also inclined towards conflict and clashed heads with Hashirama multiple times about how the village should be run.

Even while near death, he still kickstarted another plan that would supposedly annex the world and force it to do his bidding. Thankfully, Naruto and Sasuke were there to save the day when it mattered most.

8 Obito Uchiha

Obito Uchiha from Naruto Shippuden

Another member of the Uchiha clan makes his way here in the form of Obito. The death of his love was what led him down a dark path, but his actions are still unforgivable.

He is the reason why Naruto had no parents and was ostracized by the village for being a Jinchuriki. His countless villainous actions also led to the deaths of many innocents, and even his final sacrifice won't wash away any of Obito's sins.

7 Itachi Uchiha

Itachi rounds of the final member of the Uchiha trio mentioned in this list. This is easily the most controversial entry here, especially since most people lauded Itachi's sacrifice out of the love he had for his brother.

However, that doesn't make it okay to slaughter an entire clan that you were a huge part of! To make it worse, he also traumatized his brother and sent him down a path of hate, instead of trying to save him and give him the love he deserved.

6 Kisame Hoshigaki

Kisame Hoshigaki with the Samehada

Kisame is a bloodthirsty and murderous swordsman who will stop at nothing to satiate both his bloodthirst and Samehada's. He makes it a point to brutalize his opponents by viciously tearing them apart with either Samehada's blade or his own techniques.

Kisame has killed many people and doesn't regret his actions at all. He might be a fascinating character... but is also evil to his very core and can't be redeemed for his actions, no matter what.

5 Danzo Shimura

Danzo Using The Sharingan In Naruto

The thirst for power can corrupt the moral compass of many people, and Danzo is one example. This pretender to the title of Hokage is one of the most frustrating characters to watch in the entire show.

Watching Sasuke take him down once and for all was definitely a treat, and even a neat little flashback didn't make anyone sympathize with this character. Danzo's death was a thing of celebration, especially with his reputation also ruined following the events of the Five Kage Summit.

4 Kabuto Yakushi

Naruto Yakushi Kabuto

Kabuto seemed like nothing more than an underachieving student back when he appeared during the Chunin Exams. However, it turned out that he was a spy working for Orochimaru, and even absorbed some of his cells after his master supposedly died.

He's been a thorn in the side of the ninja world for a long time, and even resurrected the corpses that made the Fourth Shinobi World War such an emotional affair for many people. It was only through the Herculean efforts of Izanami that this villain was finally made to see the error of his ways, which came a little too late for fans who had already made their conclusions regarding this character's morals.

3 Hidan

hidan in naruto shippuden

Most people hate Hidan for what he did to Asuma, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. This foul-mouthed warrior dealt the same death to many people while enjoying his acts as well.

Shikamaru's burial of this horrible character was the perfect punishment for such a hated figure. An eternity surrounded in nothingness might just be what Hidan needs to be humble.

2 Kakuzu

Kakuzu from Naruto

Hidan's partner was also pretty bloodthirsty in his own right, making this duo perhaps the most unjustifiably evil of the lot in Akatsuki. There was almost nothing positive about these characters, who received their powers after torturing and killing many shinobi.

Watching this character be absolutely obliterated by the Rasenshuriken was easily one of the most satisfying moments in the entire show. All his hearts were destroyed in one go, ending the threat of one of the most powerful antagonists in Naruto up to that point.

1 Deidara

Deidara_Eye_Scope in naruto shippuden

Pulling names from Akatsuki is a given for this list, given how many characters in this group were evil to an almost comical extent. This is the case with Deidara, whose ninja abilities basically boiled down to him being an unhinged bomb-wielder.

From the wacky names of his explosive clay to the over-the-top nature of his explosions, Deidara is easily one of the more comical villains on this list. That being said, it's clear that his past is drenched in blood from all the bombings he must have caused for his own amusement.
