Despite the current manga hiatus, there's a reason for Boruto fans to celebrate as Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections has received some exciting new additions to the character roster ahead of the game's release on August 1. One of the best parts of Naruto, both the source material and the Ultimate Ninja Storm series, is the massive cast of characters and the sheer variety of powers and play styles on offer.

The Otsutsuki Clan made their first appearance in the last story arc of Naruto Shippuden manga with Kaguya Otsutsuki and her son, the Sage of Six Paths Hagoromo; other members of the clan went on to become primary antagonists in the Boruto movie and series. The Otsutsuki are a race of interstellar celestial beings who travel different dimensions and consume entire worlds on their path to attain godhood. The arrival of Kaguya Otsutsuki on Earth millennia ago marked the beginning of ninjutsu and the history of shinobi.

Who Are The Otsutsuki Clan?

Asura Otsutsuki

While Kaguya and her descendants, Hagoromo (who would later become known as the Sage of Six Paths), Indra, and Asura would remain the only Otsutsuki clan members on Earth for a very long time, more Otsutsuki would arrive during the reign of the Seventh Hokage. Momoshiki and Kinshiki Otsutsuki traveled to Earth to discover what has become of Kaguya due to her radio silence and decided to feed on the chakra they find on Earth to become more powerful. In doing so, they became the primary antagonists of the Boruto series, along with those who wish to see the Clan revived to their full strength.

Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections will have new members of the Otsutsuki Clan join Kaguya, Momoshiki, and Kinshiki. With the mysterious alien clan comes new abilities and ancient jutsu that will hopefully live up to the expectations of players and become new classics on the roster that already features dozens of characters. Like the other established characters in Naruto, the Otsutsuki characters should come with their own powerful Awakening modes, Ultimate Jutsus, and, though not confirmed yet, may have Combination Ultimate Jutsus when paired with each other.

Faces Old and New in Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections

Momoshiki Chunin Exams Boruto

Returning Otsutsuki characters in Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections will be Kaguya, who appeared in the Naruto: Shippuden manga and anime, and Momoshiki and Kinshiki, who both made their debut in the Boruto anime movie, and were only available as part of the Road to Boruto DLC in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, but will be available on the character roster in the Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections base game. A new character to the roster is Jigen, who serves as the vessel for the reincarnated Isshiki Otsutsuki and is essentially the Otsutsuki with all his might.

Fans of the original Naruto series will be excited to hear that two more new Otsutsuki characters will make their appearance: brothers Asura and Indra Otsutsuki. The relative progenitors of the Senju and Uchiha clans and the eventual reincarnations of Naruto and Sasuke, Asura and Indra are the original developers of much of the ninjutsu and culture seen in the Naruto series and may offer an ancient perspective. Players are excited to see what the two sons of the Sage of Six Paths can do on the battlefield, and perhaps even team them up with their respective reincarnates.

There's still some time before the release of Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections and more characters may be added to the roster, such as The Sage of Six Paths. Hagoromo Otsutsuki developed ninshu, the original form of ninjutsu, and was considered the greatest shinobi of all time, and there's no better time or place for him to be added to the character roster.
