Naraka: Bladepoint is a one-of-a-kind battle royale game that primarily focuses on melee combat. It takes skill and talent to master the melee combat in Naraka: Bladepoint. While the game’s melee combat has much to offer, it lacks a blocking ability.

Although Naraka: Bladepoint does not have a specific blocking mechanic, players can still parry attacks. Parrying allows players to attack before an opposing hero attacks them. Technically, parrying works like blocking, which takes some time to get used to. There are a few things to keep in mind while trying to master this technique.

How to Block Attacks using Parry in Naraka: Bladepoint

Players must remember they cannot parry attacks against a different attack style, unless it is a blue focus attack. While it may seem complicated, here are a couple of tips to remember while countering attacks:

  • Normal attacks only counter normal attacks.
  • Blue focus attacks only counter blue focus attacks.
  • Counterattacks block and disarm blue-focus attacks.

Blocking Blue Focus Attacks in Naraka: Bladepoint – Simple Steps

To block attacks using a counterattack, no matter the hero, players must wait for the opposing hero to execute a blue focus attack. Most sword combos end on the third strike with a blue focus attack. In the case of a great sword, the combo ends on the second strike with a blue focus attack.

As soon as a blue focus attack is executed, the opposing hero will have a blue aura around them. To counterattack, the player must simultaneously press the appropriate buttons, depending on the type of controller they are using:

  • Mouse and keyboard: left and right mouse buttons
  • Xbox controller: RB and LB
  • PlayStation controller: R1 and L1

The player’s hero will have a red aura, and they will counter the attack causing the opposing hero to be parried and disarmed.

While a counterattack is not a block, it will stop opposing heroes from attacking for a moment. This strategy allows the player to get an opening to fight back by executing a counterattack.

How to Deal with Counterattack Spamming

After learning how to block attacks using counterattacks, players may be tempted to spam them. While there is nothing wrong with this, dealing with players who spam counterattacks with the best glyphs becomes frustrating. Since counterattacks only work on blue-focus attacks, players need to use normal attacks. While it may seem improbable, players can end a combo before the third or second strike, depending on the weapon used.

To prevent a blue-focus attack, players need to follow these steps:

  1. Start a combo.
  2. Before the second or third strike, dodge anywhere.
  3. Attack again.
  4. Rinse and repeat.

Every time a player dodges, the combo will reset, thus allowing players to give counterattack spammers a run for their money.

Naraka: Bladepoint is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
