The Terminator film franchise is one that can easily translate into video games, from side-scrollers on the NES to third-person shooters on current generation systems. The character is iconic enough that it has made guest appearances in other video games such as Fortnite and Mortal Kombat 11. There's also Teyon's Terminator: Resistance, which was a first-person shooter made with beloved reverence to the source material published by Reef Entertainment. Another studio, Nacon, is creating a game for this long-running sci-fi franchise, as revealed in a recent livestream from the developer.

Nacon's Connect event revealed a number of games in development from the studio, including RoboCop: Rogue City, a first-person shooter also developed by Teyon based on fellow 80s action movie franchise RoboCop. The event also revealed the studio's working on a game set in the Terminator franchise, which will feature an original story that builds on the events of the film franchise.

This teaser trailer has a desolate and apocalyptic tone, with Nacon confirming that the game will be set during the aftermath of Judgment Day and also takes place before the formation of John Connor's resistance. The game will also feature an open world with survival elements, the Terminator franchise's first, no less. The player will be playing as a group of survivors from the nuclear apocalypse who are fighting to stay alive.

While the teaser trailer doesn't contain any gameplay, it helps set the mood and sells the threat of the Terminator robots. It even includes iconic music from the series, including the famous theme song, which can be heard near the end of the trailer. Many fans are hoping that this story will also capture the horrifying nature of the villainous robots, with some theorizing this game will show how John Connor's Resistance is created.

Nacon's Terminator Survival Project is being developed for PC and consoles, though no release window has been revealed at this time. Alongside this game, Nacon showcased a number of other games that are in development by its studios, including a few licensed video game projects like the aforementioned Robocop: Rogue City.Lord of the Rings: Gollum was also shown off, along with a release date for September 1. A few other original projects were also seen in this event such as Steelrising, an action RPG that is a cybernetic soulslike that is exclusive for Xbox Series X/S and will also be releasing this September.

Terminal Survival Project is currently in development.
