The Apple TV+ comedy series Mythic Quest made a fair few headlines over the past year, even just as the COVID-19 pandemic began to ramp up in intensity. When it wasn't engaging audiences with its surprisingly high-quality quarantine episode, the troubled production of its upcoming 2nd season kept audiences wondering when they would finally see more of the show they'd come to enjoy. Luckily, a new behind-the-scenes teaser has got that covered.

The official Apple TV+ YouTube channel just released a little look into the new season of the much-loved series, and it has a little something for everyone. Whether fans are looking for more of the well-written comedy they'd come to expect from the show or some heartwarming glimpses at the genuine connections between the cast members, they'll find it here. Starting off with an appropriately bombastic "Mythic Quest is the greatest show in the history of television" from series creator Rob McElhenney, it sets the tone perfectly for much anticipated (and twice delayed due to COVID-19 cases) follow-up season.

Each star in the show's main cast gets their time to shine in the short video, speaking about the series itself as well as the familial atmosphere between them all on set. "I think at its heart, it is about a found family," said Charlotte Nicdao, who plays Poppy in the series, "it's fun to watch, because it's really easy to relate to that." While the juxtaposition of hearing statements like this in the same video where Snoop Dogg appears several times in motion capture equipment is unintentionally amusing, it's not difficult to see that vibe among the cast members. That includes the good and the bad, as hinted by a rather heated clash last year between the Mythic Quest creators and crew regarding safety.

Mythic Quest follows a video game studio behind the development of the popular fictional MMORPG of the same title. While the concept appears to be rather niche in that regard, it's much more of a framing device for the various interactions and relationships between the people working there. That's where its widespread appeal comes from. "Even though this is a games company," says Ashly Burch, who plays Rachel in the series while also serving as one of its writers, "I think what's really cool about it is that it's much more universal." It also helps that the series has a great grasp on humor, which shouldn't be surprising since it's produced by two of the minds behind the now-legendary comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

With season 2 finally on the horizon, Mythic Quest is perched to recapture an audience that, frankly, doesn't have many other shows that scratch this same itch. While the comedy style and characters might feel familiar, there aren't many series that integrate the world of video games to this extent while maintaining a consistently high level of quality across the board. The best-received video game-related TV shows tend to be adaptations rather than stories that explore the more meta aspect of the industry, so Mythic Quest is a particular diamond in the rough.

So that idea, combined with this tantalizing sneak peek, should make fans ultra excited for the upcoming season of Mythic Quest. Whatever else happens, there are plenty more disasters for these intrepid developers to deal with (and probably cause as well).

Mythic Quest season 2 will premiere on Apple TV+ on May 7th.
