My Home Hero is an upcoming anime that will premier in the Spring 2023 anime season, and is based on a manga. That manga has just been green-lit for an official English translation, which will be digitally published by Kodansha USA Publishing. The manga's English version will debut on February 28, 2023 through Kodansha USA.
My Home Hero, written by Naoki Yamakawa and illustrated by Masashi Asaki, is a seinen crime and suspense manga. The story centers on a normal businessman, Tetsuo Tosu, who learns that his daughter Reika is being abused by her boyfriend. Tetsuo is determined to protect his family, and while looking into Reika's boyfriend, discovers his plans to extort their family, his ties to a crime syndicate, and his history of murdered girlfriends. Tetsuo kills the boyfriend to protect his daughter, hiding the murder with the help of his wife, and now the two must continue to protect Reika from the dangerous crime syndicate and the dark truth of what has happened.
My Home Hero has been publishing in Japan since May 2017 in Weekly Young Magazine, and was compiled into 19 volumes in January 2023. The anime adaptation was announced June 19th, 2022, and is being produced by Tezuka Productions and will air on Crunchyroll outside of Asia.
The entirety of it will not be available in English before the anime premiers this spring, but those who are interested can at least get a head start on the story and will be able to follow along with the manga as the anime airs.
The manga is currently in its third and final part, after taking a hiatus in autumn 2021. This final part of the story takes place seven years after the second part. However, the anime will start from the beginning, so there is no rush for fans that are reading in English for the manga to release any faster - except for those who want to binge the story ahead, of course.
Kodansha USA Publishing will be publishing My Hero Home starting February 28 online, though information is not available yet about how much will release at once, and how regularly it will be updated. Once it begins, we will likely be able to predict more easily a timeline for the English translation to become available. It has not been announced yet if there will also be an English physical edition of My Hero Home eventually available for purchase.
