Despite the lukewarm reception that My Hero One’s Justice received back in October of last year, a sequel is already almost upon gamers. In fact, Bandai Namco recently revealed the release date, being March 13, 2020. Despite March being overly jam-packed with new game releases, Bandai Namco seems undeterred.

Yesterday, Bandai Namco released another trailer for My Hero One’s Justice 2 this time showcasing more characters, story, and even some interesting bonuses at the very end. The trailer ends with pre-order bonuses and a hefty collector’s edition haul featuring an LED statue of the protagonist, Izuku Midoriya, among other things.

My Hero One’s Justice 2 is a fighting game based off of the fourth season of the incredibly popular anime and manga series, My Hero Academia. Alongside new characters like Mirio Togata and Sir Nighteye, a new trailer revealed three new characters: the hero Fat Gum, and the villains Twice and Mr. Compress.

For those unaware, the series centers around Izuku Midoriya, young boy who grows up in a world full of humans who possess super-powered abilities called ‘quirks,’ while he is one of the rare exceptions who grew up without one. Eventually being gifted one of the most powerful quirks in existence, the series follows his journey to becoming the greatest hero the world has ever seen.

My Hero Academia’s world centers around some pretty inventive and powerful quirks, like the ability to create an isolated black hole from a fingertip or the ability to disintegrate anything one's entire hand touches. The series’ characters not only possess unique and inventive abilities, but their personalities and backstories help to ground them in a way that few other shows do.

My Hero One’s Justice 2 includes many fan favorite characters from the series, pitting characters against each other in arena-style combat. The main draw of One’s Justice was seeing favorite characters who would never usually be pitted against each other duke it out, and seeing whose quirk comes out on top.

With One’s Justice 2, Bandai Namco seems to be taking a lot of the criticism of the previous entry to heart, touting the sequel’s story mode pretty heavily – something which the first entry sorely lacked. Additionally, the fighting and scale of battles thankfully seems improved in the sequel.

It’s no surprise that One’s Justice is getting a sequel despite its mixed reception, as the original series is so incredibly popular both overseas and in the west. Many of the voice actors who star in the show have skyrocketed in popularity, like Daiki Yamashita, who was recently revealed to co-star in the next season of the Pokemon anime alongside Ash.
