Who Is Tsuyu Asui?

My Hero Academia's smartest heroes Tsu Tsuyu Asui Froppy Class A

Tsuyu is a Class 1-A student with a mutant quirk, Frog. This type of quirk permanently alters an individual's physical features, which is why Tsuyu possesses frog-like features and characteristics like sticking to walls, a very long tongue, hopping on all fours, and even saying 'ribbit' like a frog's croak. Because of her quirk, she goes by the hero name "Froppy."

Tsuyu prefers to be called 'Tsu' by people she considers friends, and she always bears an empty look on her face; this makes it difficult for others to read her emotions.

Tsuyu's Quirk: Frog

Tsuyu's quirk might seem simple, but it has many remarkable attributes that give her an edge, and if well trained, she may be one of the strongest heroes in My Hero Academia.

One unmissable attribute of Tsuyu's frog quirk is her tongue. Her quirk allows her to elongate her tongue, allowing her to use it as a whip to attack her enemies or as an extra limb to carry her friends or citizens away from danger; not only is it long, but it is also powerful considering it can carry the weight of an average human.

Carrying with her tongue is one thing, but lifting the weight of the person and herself away from danger draws attention to another feature, which is her legs. Tsuyu's frog-like legs allow her to make incredibly powerful leaps to avoid her opponent and their attacks. It also allows her strong legs to deliver equally powerful kicks to her enemies. In addition to that, she can stick to walls and climb vertically.

What gives her an advantage over others is that she displays an equal amount of undeniable strength underwater. Tsuyu's quirk makes her a great swimmer, allowing her no limitations as she can perform just as well underwater. Being a great swimmer is an advantage that most heroes do not have, as they tend to lose most of their strength underwater.

Just like frogs in real life, Tsuyu can secrete mucus from her body that is poisonous and dangerous as it can temporarily paralyze those who come in contact with it. In addition to that, it has a strong scent that can confuse villains, who use scents to locate heroes. Also, Tsuyu can eject her stomach, allowing her to use it as a storage unit by swallowing an object and retrieving it later.

The most underrated yet equally important ability her quirk grants her is the ability to blend in. Frogs can camouflage, allowing them to pull off sneak attacks successfully, and Tsuyu is no stranger to this trick. Although she underestimates this ability, it gives her an edge against Invisible Girl, whose quirk is solely invisibility.

Tsuyu's Greatest Attribute

Tsuyu's quirk may appear to give her an edge over some heroes, but one particular attribute that Tsuyu has definitely set her ahead of other heroes. Tsuyu is a great ally and support to her mates during combat. In addition, she can combine her quirk abilities with whoever she is fighting with.

This attribute led to one of Tsuyu's ultimate moves, Meteor Fafrotskies. This move is a combination of Tsuyu and Uraraka's quirks. Uraraka uses her zero gravity quirk to make herself, Tsuyu, and debris float, and then Tsuyu comes in with her powerful tongue to throw the debris at their opponents.

Tsuyu's Weaknesses

Tsuyu's Weaknesses

Tsuyu is undeniably strong and has room for growth, but just like a normal frog, she is unable to perform well in cold temperatures. During this winter period, she goes into hibernation and, as such, cannot perform as well as she does in warm temperatures.

Her other weakness comes from using her stomach as a storage unit. When Tsuyu ejects her stomach, she feels very nauseous. This nauseous feeling is the only downside to one of the valuable attributes she has because of her quirk.

My Hero Academia is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
