Highlights

  • Flashier and more destructive quirks tend to overshadow utility-based quirks, leading to the neglect of some of the most useful quirks in My Hero Academia.
  • Recovery Girl's healing power and Present Mic's supersonic screams are underrated Pro Hero quirks that often go unnoticed due to their non-offensive nature or their position as a teacher.
  • Foresight, Sir Nighteye's quirk, is the most underrated Pro Hero quirk. It allows him to accurately predict a person's future for up to an hour, but its subtle nature and weaknesses have led to its neglect and eventual disappearance from the series.

With thousands of quirks populating My Hero Academia’s Hero scene, it’s only natural for flashier powers to take center stage and hog the spotlight. This phenomenon has led to several quirks being sidelined and forgotten, despite being some of the most useful quirks out there. While this discrepancy is more apparent among the students of U.A. High’s Classes 1-A and 1-B, Pro Heroes have also become victims of being neglected and ignored.

As overpowered and destructive quirks dominate the Hero rankings, utility-based powers tend to get overlooked by the public. From All Might’s inhumane strength to Endeavor’s hellish flames, the Hero rankings favor those that possess powers capable of putting on a show. This narrative has forced several powerful quirks to the back row, deeming them highly underrated powers. There are many contenders that fit this title, yet one Pro Hero quirk stands out due to its novel powers and indisputable value.

Honorable Mentions

Recovery Girl and Present Mic

Due to the sheer number of quirks spread across the Hero world, it’s certainly an ardent task to narrow down one specific power that can be branded as the most underrated Pro Hero quirk. While one quirk surely stands out, it is accompanied by a few other underrated Pro Hero quirks that are worth mentioning. Due to their subtle and non-theatrical nature, these quirks are often deemed weak and insignificant, yet their uses remain endless in battle.

One underrated Pro Hero quirk is Heal, a healing power possessed by U.A. High’s very own Recovery Girl. Capable of healing all sorts of wounds and injuries, Recovery Girl has the potential of turning the tide in battle with her endless heals. Due to the non-offensive nature of her powers, however, Recovery Girl tends to be sidelined and is often disregarded by viewers.

Another sidelined Pro Hero quirk is Voice, a power possessed by Present Mic that allows him to send supersonic screams. Present Mic’s quirk is quite versatile and useful in battle, yet he is often relegated to the sidelines due to his position as a mere U.A. High teacher. However, his quirk possesses great potential and remains a vastly underrated Pro Hero quirk.

The Most Underrated Pro Hero Quirk

Sir Nighteye and Foresight

While many quirks can easily be branded as an underrated power, the title of the most underrated Pro Hero quirk is reserved for Foresight, Sir Nighteye’s quirk. Foresight is a highly intricate power that has many unexplained facets to it. However, the very same complexity forces many to overlook its undeniable value in battle.

Foresight essentially grants the wielder the ability to predict a person’s future for an entire hour by simply touching the target and maintaining eye contact. Once these necessary conditions are set in place, Nighteye can witness the target’s future from a third-person perspective. While the duration of the target’s future is limited to an hour, there is no limit to the extent of Foresight’s predictions as Sir Nighteye could see up to several years into the future.

Foresight’s predictions are 100% accurate, meaning once a future event has been witnessed, it will eventually come to pass. However, the quirk doesn’t pinpoint when the event will take place, forcing Nighteye to come up with rough estimations. Foresight’s predictions have only been negated once in the case of Izuku Midoriya’s future, though that was attributed to Eri’s Rewind interfering with the quirk. This indicates that, without external interference, Foresight’s predictions are absolute.

Why Is Foresight Underrated?

Sir Nighteye From My Hero Academia 405

The primary reason behind Foresight’s neglect can be attributed to its non-offensive and subtle nature. Unlike flashier quirks that make a scene, Foresight functions from the shadows, providing utility and support to allies on the front lines. Moreover, Sir Nighteye had purposely kept Foresight’s true workings in secrecy to bar villains from gaining the upper hand. This led to viewers being acquainted with Foresight’s abilities later on in the series.

While Foresight adds undeniable value, its workings are laden with many weaknesses, potentially lowering the quirk’s popularity in the public’s eyes. Foresight’s lack of time accuracy and taxing requirements such as maintaining constant eye contact make it an extremely difficult quirk to use. Coupled with the fact that these predictions are only visual and lack sound, Foresight is now known as a quirk riddled with weaknesses, a narrative that negates the quirk’s actual strengths.

Sir Nighteye’s untimely demise marked the end of Foresight’s screen time in My Hero Academia, leading to the quirk becoming a thing of the past. Despite its countless advantages and accurate predictions, Foresight eventually receded to the sidelines, with many forgetting about the true potential this Pro Hero quirk has to offer. While many quirks fit the title of being the most underrated Pro Hero quirk, Foresight currently holds this position due to its immense complexity and high support capabilities that often go unnoticed.

My Hero Academia is available to stream on Prime Video.
