Shoto Todoroki is one of the protagonists of My Hero Academia. This young hero is the son of the number one hero in Japan, Endeavour, and is training to be a pro-hero at U.A. High. Because of his traumatic upbringing, Shoto becomes cold and alone. He barely has anyone he can call friends around him, and he does not make any effort to make friends. In addition, he grows to hate his half-hot quirk since he got it from his father. All these changes occur at U.A. High when he finds himself surrounded by careful and intentional friends. These friends also help him overcome his trauma, and he finds himself becoming stronger and getting more in tune with his powers, especially his hot quirk.
5 Eijiro Kirishima

When the League of Villians kidnaps Bakugo with hopes of recruiting him, his friends are in a state of worry and desperately want to rescue him. Shoto and Kirishima both wanted to save Bakugo as soon as possible, even if it meant breaking the rules and going alone without the backing of their teachers and other pro-heroes. They both had a friend in danger, and they worked together to rescue Bakugo.
After the kidnapping incident, they became friendly with each other. Even when a classmate gives Shoto a hard time because he failed the Hero License Exams, Kirishima makes a joke to put him at ease. Their friendship with Bakugo makes them have a good and mutual relationship.

Shoto and Momo have powerful quirks and get into U.A. High via recommendations. These two individuals respect each other so much that Shoto even votes for Momo to become the class representative, as he believes she has the attributes of a leader.

Shoto understands how consuming it is to hate someone, as he goes through a hard time accepting himself and his hot quirk because of the hate and bitterness he has towards his father. Shoto realizes that Tenya has the same hatred and resentment for hero killer Stain, as he is responsible for putting his brother, Tensei Ida, in a critical state that forced him to retire from being a pro-hero. Shoto does not want Tenya to go through what he did, and he shows concern for him.
These two get closer after their fight with Stain, and they always look out for each other during school activities. Shoto respects Tenya’s authority as the representative of Class-1A and his physical abilities as a hero, while Tenya always looks out for Shoto and makes sure nothing is bothering him.

Most individuals who meet Bakugo in the My Hero Academia world do not like him because of his loud and aggressive personality. Bakugo takes pride in his explosive attitude and almost sees nothing wrong with it, even though most people avoid interacting with him because of it. Nonetheless, some people care and respect him, and Shoto is one of them.

Bakugo's quirk is on a whole other level after his awakening in My Hero Academia.
Shoto did not see Bakugo as a rival because of his personality, and it is safe to assume that Shoto thought Bakugo was one of those people who are all mouth and no action. He soon discovers that Bakugo is powerful and worthy enough to be his rival. On the other hand, Bakugo immediately sees Shto as a rival. Bakugo is hot, and Shoto is cold. At first, they do not get along, but as the anime progresses, they get to know each other, especially after the villain attack at the Forest Lodge. Shoto even invites Bakugo to his house for dinner, indicating that he sees and values Bakugo as a friend.
1 Izuku Midoriya

Initially, Shoto did not like Midoriya and saw him as a rival because of his relationship with All Might, his father’s rival, and the fact that Shoto had such a traumatic and abusive upbringing. During the U.A. sports festival, Midoriya notices that Shoto is underutilizing his quirk by only using his cold quirk and ignoring his fire quirk. This discovery makes Midoriya approach and question Shoto. Shoto opens up to him, signaling the beginning of a new friendship.
From that moment on, Shoto starts seeing Midoriya in a new and respectful light. Midoriya becomes concerned about Shoto and does not want what he went through as a child to limit him from being a stronger hero. As the anime progresses, Midoriya continually helps Shoto overcome his mental trauma by being there for him and encouraging him. Shoto invites Midoriya to his house for dinner and introduces him to his family as his friend.
