Since the conclusion of the fifth season of My Hero Academia last winter, fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of Quirk superheroes. With the sixth season set to arrive soon, the return of the series is teased with upcoming OVAs, available to stream on Crunchyroll soon.

With the OVAs having premiered in the beginning of the month at the return of Anime Expo, the wide release is set to bring all-new fun perspectives on fan favorite characters. The two OVA episodes for the fifth season of My Hero Academia are set for exclusive release on Crunchyroll this upcoming Monday, August 1. The two episodes, “HLB” and “Laugh! As If You Are in Hell!” hilariously connect to the broader plot strokes of the season while showing new dimensions to the greater world of one of anime’s biggest shonen franchises.

Season 5 OVA 1: HLB

My Hero Academia OVAs Banner 1

The first of the Season 5 OVAs is set to explore a little more of a different side of the student life at the academy: baseball. “HLB,” an abbreviated name for the ‘Hero League of Baseball,’ is a comedic exploration of superheroes’ love of Japan’s favorite sport. A baseball match is declared between the Gang Orca and the rivals agencies of Shishido, who brand their respective teams as the Orcas and the Lionels.

The heroes in this matchup are encouraged to use all of their powers to win for their teams, but the game is also set to be interrupted when a villain attempts to take the stage. Bringing the action-comedy of MHA to the baseball diamond, the “HLB” OVA is set to be a hit with fans of sports anime and shonen alike.

Season 5 OVA 2: “Laugh! As If You Are in Hell!”

The second OVA for the season follows Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki and their relationship with the upper echelons of the hero scene. When the three protagonists are given an internship at the famous hero Endeavor’s agency, they are tasked with tracking down info on a quizzical and elusive villain. When the strange villain known as “Smiley” reveals his powers of causing outbursts of laughter, Endeavor and the heroes-in-training are set for a hysterical adventure—literally.

The two OVAs were written by series creator Kohei Horikoshi and directed by Kenji Nagasaki, who also directed the main anime episodes as well as the spinoff films, Two Heroes, Heroes Rising, and World Heroes’ Mission. The additional dubbing languages for the releases will include English, Latin American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
