The Power of Overhaul's Quirk

Overhoul's Quirk

The astounding power that Overhaul's quirk holds is truly amazing. It allows its user, Overhaul, also known as Kai Chisaki, the ability to disassemble and reassemble anything he touches. However, there's a catch, he can only disassemble or reassemble anything if he touches the target with his bare hands.

This restriction doesn't make Overhaul less powerful. It lets Kai accomplish various things, from killing his opponents instantly to totally healing them. Kai has skills beyond just offensive powers. He can also rebuild the biological components of a living creature, which helps him heal himself and others. According to his intentions, he may not always use this ability, but he certainly has the ability to do that. Using his quirk, Overhaul can steal quirks from others, combine them, and even create new quirks or give quirks to people.

How Capable Is Overhaul's Quirk?

Overhoul's Quirk Weakness

Overhaul's Quirk is known for its flexibility. This immense power allows for different uses, both harm and healing. As mentioned, his quirk lets him change the structure of anything he touches. His quirk has seen use on himself, his allies, enemies, and objects too. His harsh take on life lets him freely use his powers on anything or anyone. Chisaki is clever, using his powers to cover his tracks. He can disassemble a target to get what he needs and then rebuild it flawlessly to erase any attack signs. Unlike Decay, Overhaul's power doesn't extend to anything assigned to the target. Overhaul only works through Chisaki's touch. The official My Hero Academia Ultra Analysis Book points out that his strength is not purely from his quirk.

This quirk also has a special healing feature. Chisaki can use it to fix even very big injuries. He can do this by taking himself apart and putting himself back together. With additional efforts, he can also heal others. Besides, Overhaul shows the power to improve, and he can give new quirks or make existing ones better in living things. This amazing power helped Chisaki to build the powerful Shie Hassaikai, a team of strong Yakuza members with upgraded Quirks. While Overhaul is a potent quirk, But still has certain boundaries. First, Kai Chisaki needs to physically touch the target to use it. So, distant attackers pose a risk to him, Although he can fight long-range battles by manipulating the structure of non-living things around him. Second, Overhaul demands a lot of concentration. If Kai gets distracted or fails to stay focused, his quirk might malfunction. Lastly, Overhaul needs a short break between uses. That's why Kai can't use it back-to-back without allowing his enemies some recovery time.

Overhaul lost his quirk when Tomura Shigaraki, the leader of the League of Villains, cut off his hands. This occurred after Shigaraki acquired the special Quirk-Destroying bullets that Overhaul created. Technically, he didn't lose his quirk. He just lost the ability to use his quirk because his hands were cut off. He needs to touch to apply his quirk, so he still has his quirk, but he can't use it. Now, without his hands, Overhaul can't touch things which also renders his quirk useless. There's a slim chance of regaining his quirk and hand usage through medical means, but it's not a guarantee.

My Hero Academia is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
