Quirks are what determine how powerful a person can be in the My Hero Academia series. Some people have quirks that can make them stronger and some have quirks that make them bigger. Each unique quirk has its own advantages and disadvantages.

In the case of Minoru Mineta, he has the ability to generate sticky grape-like spheres from his scalp and use them as a weapon. While his quirk is one of those rare and unique types, he does use it to the best of his advantage. But how powerful can his quirk be? And to what extent can it be used?

The Shortest Hero In The Series Is Actually Strong?

Minoru Mineta is one of the least fan-favorite characters in the My Hero Academia series because of his pervert-like character, but he sure does pack a punch. Minoru is also known by his hero alias Grape Juice and is a student of Class 1-A at U.A. High, aspiring to become a pro hero. Apart from the recognition and popularity, one of Minoru's reasons for becoming a hero was his infatuation with women. He also appears to be nervous and misbehaves at times, especially when with girls. Minoru, while not exactly popular for the right reasons, is popular for his unique quirk that gives him an edge over certain opponents. He is also someone who comes to his peer's aid when needed and displays bravery in the face of danger. His ability to generate sticky grape-like spheres from his scalp and lunge them at enemies to stop them from moving has proved to be useful in many scenarios.

The versatility of his quirk knows no bounds as he was also able to join the spheres together to create a bead weapon that allowed him to defend himself from aerial attacks. Even though Minoru's perverted nature is a sore sight to others, he is actually smart and shocked the entire class when he placed 9th during their midterms. He uses this brainpower to strategize during battles. This is seen when he latched onto the back of Momo to pass the obstacle race during the U.A. sports festival. He was also able to effectively strategize and avoid Midnight's alluring mist by covering his nose and then using his spheres to immobilize her as he escaped. Minoru also works well in teams and is able to use his sticky spheres to launch long-distance attacks.

The Perverted Yet Brave Is Ready to Pop Off

The technical term given to Minoru's quirk is known as Pop Off, which gives him the ability to pluck and automatically generate these sticky grape-like spheres from his head, the spheres grow back fast, so Minoru can use any amount of sticky spheres he likes when needed. These spheres are great for stopping opponents in their tracks or just to use as a means of distraction. Minoru can also use the spheres to bounce off them at high speeds to avoid getting attacked. Another use of the sticky spheres is that Minoru can lay them out in the open to set traps for unsuspecting enemies, as soon as they step on them, they are immobilized and are unable to move. The downside to this quirk is that if he plucks too many sticky spheres it may cause him to bleed from his head. To avoid such situations, Minoru began training by constantly pulling spheres from his head to increase the strength in his scalp to stop his bleeding.

I wanted to be popular with girls. That's why I wanted to be a hero.

A couple of his signature moves include - Grape Rush, where he runs toward an enemy and throws the sticky spheres at them at the same time. This was the move Minoru used on Midnight to avoid her. Vineyard is a move that Minoru uses by creating a vine using his sticky spheres, this vine can be used to wrap around objects and when an enemy gets in contact with it, they get stuck. He is also able to throw multiple sticky spheres at opponents to bind them.

Another smart use of this quirk is that he can join the sticky spheres and create a whip which he can use for offensive and defensive attacks. He also has a special move with Mina Ashido, where she uses her special move known as Acid Layback and spins in one place while holding Minoru in the other, she then uses that force to launch Minoru at the sticky spheres he has strategically placed, causing him to bounce off them at high speeds all while lunging more sticky spheres at their opponents. Finally, another defensive way Minoru takes advantage of his quirk is known as Grape Buckler, a move that allows him to stick the sticky spheres to a shield so that he can block aerial attacks. Minoru was also able to impress a couple of pro heroes with his strategic moves. This, in turn, gave him the opportunity to learn from powerful pro heroes.
