The Todoroki Family Reunites

Toya Finally Faces His Family In My Hero Academia Chapter 426

My Hero Academia chapter 426 was entirely about the Todoroki family. Fans were waiting to see which way Horikoshi would go in regards to this family and the conclusion of this storyline, and now, it is clear to see that it is at its very end. Of course, there are a few characters who might end up receiving more focus still, but the vast majority have had their story arcs wrapped up. Fans were hoping to find out more about Toya Todoroki, and that is precisely what this week's chapter delivered. My Hero Academia chapter 419 saw Endeavor standing right in front of Toya. With him, he was joined by all the remaining members of the family. Rei Todoroki was present alongside Endeavor in the chapter, and it was interesting to see that now she has scars on her face as well, which mirrors her causing one of her sons to be scarred. Similarly, both Natsuo and Fuyumi have scars as well, and in another sense, this can be seen as the entire family sharing the burden and the pain that Endeavor inflicted on them.

From now on, I'll come here every day to talk with you, Toya. – Endeavor

Clearly, Endeavor, out of them all, is the primary culprit and Horikoshi chose the perfect punishment for him. He is permanently a cripple and he has retired as a Hero. At the same time, Endeavor will spend the rest of his life trying to improve the lives of his family, no matter what happens. He doesn't need them to accept his apology or forgive him. He knows the damage he has done is irreparable and he will do what needs to be done from here onwards. This is the perfect redemption arc written in My Hero Academia, and thankfully, the author was smart enough to pull it off in a successful manner. There couldn't have been a better end written for Endeavor, and fans can only hope that things continue similarly.

Fans also got to see Shoto in My Hero Academia chapter 419. This did not come as a surprise to any reader. In the previous chapter, Shoto was seen heading towards where Endeavor was. It was quite clear to the fans where he was headed, and he successfully met Toya in this chapter of the series. Shota entered the room where everyone already was and decided to join in on the conversation. Basically, all of them were there for none other than Toya, and because they didn't want to abandon him as a member of the family. It was Endeavor's fault that he ended up becoming the way he is right now, and even though it is primarily his responsibility, everyone wants to chime in and do what they couldn't do for their brother once.

Toya's Fate Is Revealed

Toya Todoroki Is Set For Death In My Hero Academia

In My Hero Academia chapter 429, fans got their answer to a very important question. A significant chunk of the fans were wondering if Toya Todoroki was going to be redeemed or not. This chapter essentially gave fans the answer to that. The bitter truth is that Toya is not going to survive for long, or at least that's what Horikoshi wants the fans to believe at this point in the story.

Fans would've hoped for him to survive, but he has burns all over his body and has pushed himself beyond all limits, which means that a return for him is almost impossible at this point. He is still alive for now, and he can listen and talk just fine.

However, given his level of injuries, it was made quite there in the chapter that he's not going to live for long, which was a sad blow for the fans, and while he certainly does deserve to be punished for his crimes, fans had hoped that they would get a very heartwarming family reunion at the end of the series. That seems like it is not going to happen anymore, and all they have is just a few chapters of Toya Todoroki left.

With his fate now out of the equation, the chapter then focused on building a relationship between Toya and his family. Everyone reached out to him and tried to help him out. His brothers and sister all wanted to help him, and so did his mother. Above all, Endeavor wanted to stay right there next to him, fulfilling the responsibility of a parent, at long last. Even though it's too late now, he wants to help Toya and stay with him, as opposed to not being there during the childhood days of the boy. This moved Toya as well as the fans, and they knew that this was extremely important in order for the story to reach a proper conclusion.

The Different Paths Of The Family

The Todoroki Family Finally Split Up In My Hero Academia

With the Todoroki family finally setting everything aside, fans got to see them step out in different directions. Natsuo mentioned that he was moving in with his girlfriend and he absolutely did not want to introduce her to Endeavor. Meanwhile, Fuyumi had found a different job for herself, which meant that both of them are now going to be moving out and starting their own lives. Meanwhile, Shoto is going to school and doing his very best every day. This leaves behind Rei and Endeavor, and both of them are going to be trying to start their life from scratch. Meanwhile, Endeavor is going to be there for Toya before he eventually passes.

Mom, Dad, I'll be okay cuz my classmates are gonna be there for me, and cuz I'll get to be the man I wanted to be! – Shoto Todoroki

The most important part of the chapter, however, came through Shoto. Just moments before leaving asked his brother Toya what his favorite food was, to which he replied with Soba. It turns out that they both have this in common. For the first time, Toya started accepting his brother, and the Todoroki family as his very own. This is only the beginning, and hopefully, over the course of the next four chapters, fans will see them bridge the gaps before Toya eventually passes away.
