Countless My Hero Academia characters have made sacrifices throughout the series, but some of these deeds have left bigger impacts than others.

There are some heroes who might be considered ‘weak’ in comparison to the other heroes around them. However, these characters do not let their shortcomings define them, as they always embody what it means to be a true hero, as it is not only immense strength that makes an individual a hero. Their spirits never waver, regardless of the situation they find themselves in.

5 Minoru Mineta

His Nerves Get The Best Of Him But Every Now And Then He Gets A Hold Of Himself

Mineta-Balls

Mineta is widely known for his perverted behavior. He enjoys peeking at women whenever he gets the chance, making his female classmates uncomfortable in his presence. Mineta is not skilled in combat, but he makes up for it with an impressive hold on his pop-off quirk. His quirk allows him to produce sticky purple sphere balls from his head, which can limit or enhance his or his opponent's movements.

Mineta is not considered to be the strongest in the My Hero Academia world, but he has a heroic spirit in him regardless of his strength. Sometimes he gets nervous during battle and overuses his quirk, which injures him and, in turn, makes him a liability to others, but every now and then, he puts on his big boy trousers and helps his fellow heroes during a battle.

4 Hitoshi Shinso

Determined To Prove To Everyone He Can Be A Hero Regardless Of How They Perceive His Quirk

Shinso from My Hero Academia

Shinso’s brainwashing quirk causes others to think he might not have good intentions. His quirk does not seem hero-like, as it has to do with commanding anybody who verbally responds to him to do whatever he wants. This quirk limits him, as those who know about it tend to not respond to anything he says, and they think anything they do for him is against their free will. Because of this, Shinso does not have any friends and rarely gets to use his quirk.

Shinso's Brainwashing quirk is one of My Hero Academia's darkest abilities, as it can turn opponents into mindless slaves with no effort at all.

However, Shinso is determined to be a hero. He wants to prove to everyone that, regardless of how they perceive his quirk, he can still use it to do something good and heroic. Shinso is not physically strong and is weak when it comes to combat situations, but he does not let his weaknesses define him, as he wants to realize his long-term dreams of being a hero.

3 Yuga Aoyama

His Flashy Quirk Limits Him But He Is Determined To Show His Loyalty To The Heo Society

Yuga Aoyama sparkling wink in My Hero Academia

Yuga is another student at UA Hight who is training to be a pro-hero. Yuga wants to do good and has always wanted to be a good hero, this is similar to how Midroiya is like. Just like Midoriya, he lacked the most crucial element needed to be a hero, a quirk, as he was born quirkless. Unfortunately for Yuga, his luck was not as good as that of Midoriya, as he was not able to get a powerful quirk like the one passed down to Midoriya. Instead, he and his parents met up with All For One, who gave Yuga the navel laser quirk.

Yuga’s quirk allows him to fire a sparkly laser from his navel. Knowing that there are other powerful quirks, this quirk does not really make Yuga a strong hero, and since it was a given quirk, not a manifested one, Yuga’s body is still unfamiliar with the quirk, and he sometimes has difficulties keeping it under control. Yuga's unwavering determination to be a good hero is evident, and even after his exposure as the mole in UA High, he harbored remorse, vowed to atone for his crimes, and intensified his efforts to become a good hero.

2 Koji Koda

Extremely Shy But Will Overlook His Fears To Help His Fellow Heroes In Training

Koji is shy, and he rarely ever talks. His lack of speech causes Mina Ashido, a fellow classmate and hero in training, to think he is mute. Additionally, he mostly used sign language to talk and communicate with others rather than his voice. Koji’s quirk is Anivoice, and it allows him to summon and communicate with animals.

Koji Koda's Anivoice quirk may not devastate villains with sheer power, but the utility of his quirk may turn the tables on them in quick fashion.

Koji is not exactly the strongest, and sometimes he fades into the background due to his lack of speech and limited use of his quirks. However, it is important to note that regardless, Koji is always ready to show up for his fellow heroes in training, so much so that he can defy his deadly fear of bugs to help them in their time of need.

1 Toru Hakagure

Invisible Girl Always Ready To Lend A Helping Hand

Toru Hakagure

The only thing Toru has going for her is that she is invincible, and her quirk makes her go to places unnoticed, which means that she can easily infiltrate the enemy’s camp without being seen. However, her quirk usage is limited as there are not many scenarios that are advantageous to her and her quirk.

Regardless of her quirk, Toru is very cheerful, and she is always ready to support any group she finds herself in. Her classmates know her to be very reliable. While much focus is not placed on her character, the little fans might know about Toru is that she is very positive, and she would not let anything dull her spirit. She is also willing to give all her efforts to be a good hero, helping others and deciphering situations, as she is observant enough to notice Yuga is suspicious and later discovers that he is the traitor.
