Orcinus is a mutant-type quirk that turns the wielder into a Killer Whale, both in terms of physical appearance and abilities. In short, the user has the physiology of an Orca, in-turn gaining any ability that these sea mammals naturally possess. With this quirk, Kugo Sakamata, better known by his Hero name Gang Orca, has the appearance of a Killer Whale, along with an Orca's entire repertoire of survival abilities.

Gang Orca primarily has a Killer Whale's strength, coupled with incredible speed in water. However, Orcinus' true power lies with its hypersonic waves, capable of paralyzing targets at close range. While all of these abilities can be used on land, Orcinus' actual strength shines through in water. Gang Orca has tremendous speed in water, and his hypersonic waves become more potent when used underwater.

Gang Orca's Fighting Style With Orcinus

Despite granting multiple physical advantages, Orcinus' powers are still rather limited on land, forcing Gang Orca to come up with various maneuvers to make the most of his Orca-related powers. Gang Orca's hypersonic waves are both his defense and offense, as he uses these potent waves to deter and counter incoming attacks. Short-range fights are better suited for Gang Orca, as he can immediately paralyze his opponents with a volley of debilitating waves.

Aquatic environments are where Orcinus truly shines, as Gang Orca can swim at incredibly fast speeds and use his Killer Whale physiology to gain the upper hand. Gang Orca has been witnessed taking down multiple Nomus with the help of other Pro Heroes, and his ingenious usage of his quirk led him to defeat three powerful 1st-year students during the Provisional Hero License Exam. Instead of shooting hypersonic waves at long distances, Gang Orca uses his enhanced speed to close the gap, ensuring his hypersonic waves are potent enough to paralyze his targets immediately.

Orcinus' Usage In Battle

Gang Orca isn't a major character in My Hero Academia's narrative, meaning his battles throughout the series have been rather limited. The Provisional Hero License Exam is one of the few events where Gang Orca received the spotlight, as he served as the antagonist in the final stage of the exam. He was able to wipe the floor with Shoto Todoroki, Yo Shinda, and Inasa, three prodigal students from Japan's top hero schools.

Being an aquatic Heteromorph, Gang Orca has to remain prepared for drawn-out battles on land, though his tough mammalian skin and durability can still make up for his lack of hydration.

Gang Orca's superhuman strength has also been showcased on multiple occasions, though it was most notable during the Kamino Incident. Nomus have been proven to be exceptionally overwhelming for any Pro Hero, yet Gang Orca was witnessed overpowering several Nomus simply using his raw strength, a feat that not many heroes can claim. While these are Gang Orca's feats on land, the true extent of his power lies underwater, though the series never presented such an opportunity for fans to see Gang Orca fight in his natural habitat.

Orcinus' Has a Few Weaknesses

Despite the wide range of abilities Orcinus offers, it has a few crippling drawbacks that make the quirk slightly less viable. Due to his Orca-body, Gang Orca is vulnerable against heat and dehydration, with flame abilities being his biggest weakness. While he can easily circumvent this weakness by rehydrating himself with a splash of water, drawn-out battles in dry environments won't fare well for him.

Orcinus' hypersonic waves might be the quirk's strongest asset, but these potent waves also come with a certain drawback. At longer ranges, the intensity of three hypersonic waves significantly drops, losing most of the debilitating effect this ability is known for. Moreover, as a Heteromphic quirk, Orcinus cannot be deactivated, meaning Gang Orca's large appearence can give his location away to villains from afar. While this isn't usually an issue for most heroes, Gang Orca's short-range abilities force him to close in on his opponents, yet his massive Killer Whale appearence makes surprise attacks impossible.
