Paranormal Liberation War Arc is one of the biggest arcs in My Hero Academia. Tons of characters will be involved in this arc, both from the heroes’ side and also from the villains’ camp. New and familiar faces will fill the screen, and countless supporting characters will finally get their chance to shine in this arc.

One of those supporting characters is a pro hero called Edgeshot, also known as the Ninja Hero: Edgeshot. He’s been on and off the screen numerous times since the first season of the series. We sometimes get to see him in action on screen, and other times, we simply hear about his exploits. That limited amount of screen time is one of the main reasons why most people don't really know about his Quirk, much less how versatile it actually is. So let’s take this chance to talk about Edgeshot’s unique Quirk, the Foldabody.

Who is Edgeshot

Edgeshot in My Hero Academia

Edgeshot is the current No.4 Pro-Hero in Japan. He is a ninja hero that manages to climb the ladder of popularity despite rarely saying a word. After all, “Ninja Hero” is not only a title for Edgeshot, he is fully committed to being a modern-day ninja. His hero costume is based on the traditional, albeit modified, ninja’s uniform. Not only that, his mannerism is also just like that of a ninja, which adds to his overall mysterious aura.

Edgeshot’s real name is Shinya Kamihara. He was a former student at U.A. High School, and a close friend of the current No. 3 Pro Hero, Best Jeanist. As a matter of fact, they used to be a member of the Textile Arts Association Club during their high school days.

Nowadays, Edgeshot is the leader of a team of pro heroes called The Lurkers. He, along with the No. 7 Hero Kamui Woods, and the No. 23 Hero Mt. Lady, tackle various missions together. Thanks to the different variety of Quirks between each member, The Lurker ends up becoming one of the most versatile Hero teams in Japan.

Edgeshot’s Quirk

Edgeshot Using His Quirks

As mentioned briefly above, the name of Edgeshot’s Quirk is The Foldabody. As the name suggests, this Quirk allowed Edgeshot to expand and stretch his body at will. Which means he can turn his body into long and thin fabrics that he can freely manipulate.

Edgeshot can turn his whole body and attack the opponents with it, or he can simply turn a part of his body to be used as some sort of weapon. Likewise, he can also turn into one long sheet and cleanly cut his opponents in half, or turn into countless thin threads and infiltrate the enemy’s lair through the faintest crack in the wall.

Once Edgeshot uses his Quirk and turns into any form that he needs, he can move at super speeds and still retain full control of every extended part of his body. Which means even if his body turns into a thousand threads, he can still fully control the movement of every single thread. This kind of versatility means Edgeshot can take on different roles, be it as a part of offensive team, intelligence team, defensive team, and even as a strong support.

Common And Ultimate Moves

My Hero Academia Edgeshot using his quirk

Edgeshot’s moves can be divided into roughly three different categories. First is his Ninjutsu ability, then a partial body transformation, and finally, a full body transformation. Edgeshot rarely shows his ninjutsu technique, because he relies more on his Quirk. However, there’s one particular move that he often uses during a fight, which is a Substitution Jutsu. As the name suggests, this technique allowed Edgeshot to instantly substitute himself with a piece of log in order to evade and even fool an opponent who tried to attack him. Fans of Naruto should be familiar with this technique.

For partial body transformation, Edgeshot usually uses his arms or legs. He will keep his hands solid and turn the rest of his arms into stretchy fabrics. He can use it to instantly catch, punch, or even pierce enemies that are far away from him. Full body transformation differs greatly depending on how thin Edgeshot is willing to stretch his body. The most common one is simply to stretch his body and pierce his opponents at a super speed. He can go thinner to get through cracks on the wall or on the opponents armor. And finally, he can go even thinner, to the point of becoming a surgical thread, in order to suture any internal wound suffered by his comrades.

Unfortunately, the thinner he turns himself into, the more Edgeshot endangers his own life, which is why he almost never uses this move at all. That being said, this move, along with the others that have been mentioned above, proves that Edgeshot’s Foldabody is indeed one of the most versatile Quirk among the Pro Heroes in the series.
