In the My Hero Academia series, quirks are extraordinary abilities that manifested in humans long ago and passed down through the generations. With each generation of quirk users, quirks became more complex and gave birth to compound powers like the ability to use fire and ice in the same body.

As quirks evolved, darker and darker quirks came to light. In My Hero Academia, some quirks simply granted individuals super strength upon activation, while others needed their users to suck the blood of others to be activated. From quirks like Himiko Toga's Transform to Shigaraki's Decay, these quirks have proved to be both intriguing and ominous manifestations of human potential.

8 Blade Tooth - Moonfish

My Hero Academia Moonfish of the Vanguard Action Squad uses Blade Tooth

The former League of Villains Vanguard Action Squad member, Moonfish, proved a formidable enemy with his quirk, Blade-Tooth. Moonfish's quirk allows him to transform his teeth into long blades that can be used for attacking. After reshaping and enlarging his teeth into long blades, Moonfish is able to move with his teeth even when his hands and feet are bound.

Perhaps because of his quirk or simply due to his sadistic nature, Moonfish desires the flesh of others. As long as he gets to consume the flesh of others, he is capable of working with anyone. Even the flesh of his teammates sometimes distracts him from his mission.

7 Brainwashing - Hitoshi Shinso

My Hero Academia Side Characters Hitoshi Shinso

Hitoshi Shinso, the former U.A. High School General Department student from Class 1-C, showed his prowess at the U.A. Festival. His quirk, Brainwashing, proved to have disastrous potential when used properly. Shinso's quirk brainwashes whoever verbally responds to something he says. When his quirk is activated, Shinso's Brainwashing puts his target in a state where they obey his commands.

When a target is under the effects of his quirk, the target is in a mindless state where it feels like their brain is covered with fog. With his quirk, Shinso can also make his victims talk without their emotions coming into play, allowing them to avoid lie detectors. Shinso's quirk could be used for disastrous occurrences in the wrong hands.

6 Blueflame - Dabi

Dabi Laughing While Using His Fire

Dabi, the eldest son of the current number one hero, Endeavor, became a villain to get revenge on his father for neglecting him. Dabi's quirk, Blueflame, was inherited from his father, who has the Hellflame quirk. Despite inheriting his quirk from his father, Dabi failed to inherit his father's tolerance for hot temperatures and instead inherited his mother's tolerance for cold temperatures.

This made his body unable to adapt to his quirk, as it burnt him. According to medical reports, Dabi is not supposed to be alive, and the only thing keeping him going is his insanity and obsession with destroying his father. This shows just how a quirk can be destructive to its user and not just the user's targets.

5 Bloodcurdle - Stain

The Hero Killer Stain is well known for his deep convictions and bloodthirsty nature. He strives to rid society of false heroes by killing them and adopting the persona of a necessary evil. Stain's quirk, Bloodcurdle, allows him to accomplish his missions by paralyzing his foes. His quirk activates when he licks the blood of his victim.

The duration of the paralysis varies depending on the blood type, with Type B blood being the most effective and Type O blood being the least effective. As a quirk that only activates after he tastes his victim's blood, Stain's quirk dives into the darker side of quirk nature as he (Stain) must taste another's blood even to use his powers.

4 Decay - Shigaraki Tomura

Decay on Aizawa

Fans of the My Hero Academia series have seen Shigaraki Tomura come up from being a recurring villain who simply wanted to crush All Might to one who wants to destroy Hero Society and can do so. Shigaraki Tomura's quirk has become one of the most fearsome quirks of the series. However, it did not always possess such might. In the past, Shigaraki's quirk activated when he used all five of his fingers to touch a person or object. The person or object then broke down and decayed.

After the awakening of his quirk, the effects of Decay became more fearsome. When Shigaraki touches something, the decay spreads with whatever the object is in contact with. This ability allows him to level cities with a touch, and many heroes have died to it.

3 All For One - All For One

All For One's All For One Quirk From My Hero Academia

The overarching antagonist of the My Hero Academia series has a quirk fit for disaster. His quirk, All For One, is the same as his adopted villain name.

The quirk All For One allows him to take the quirks of others as his own. He can also re-distribute the quirks of others as he pleases. All For One's quirk relies on him taking from others, making it a quirk that fits the darker side of quirk society. With the many quirks he has taken from others, All For One is capable of unleashing devastating compound attacks, and with them, he has terrorized many generations of heroes.

2 Rewind - Eri

Eri's Rewind Quirk From My Hero Academia

Eri is the granddaughter of the former Shie Hassaikai's boss. Her quirk, Rewind, has devastating effects if not controlled. Eri's quirk allows her to reverse the physical state of a living being. With it, she could make someone younger and even rewind them out of existence.

With her quirk having such effects, Kai Chisaki used her to create the quirk-destroying bullet. The bullet, after it has been shot into a person, focuses on the quirk factor in that person and rewinds it into a quirkless state. As Eri's quirk can only be used on living beings, practicing it is difficult, as Eri's young age and inexperience prevent her from being able to fully control the quirk.

1 Himiko Toga - Transform

Toga from My Hero Academia

The eldest daughter of the Toga family, Himiko Toga, always had a unique interest in blood. This was likely due to her quirk, Transform. Transform allows her to transform into anyone whose blood she ingests. After transforming, Toga gets the physical appearance of the person she transforms into alongside their voice.

Moreover, after her quirk gets awakened, she can also use the quirk of whoever she transforms into, although more restrictions apply. Like Stain, Toga's quirk relies on her ingesting the blood of others. Ingesting one cup of blood allows her to transform for 18 hours. Despite the usefulness of her quirk, ingesting the blood of another to have a quirk activated is not something many would consent to. This has made Toga's quirk serve as one of the darkest in the series.
