My Hero Academia is a world where heroes are a common sight in society, to the point where there are schools specifically designated to train new heroes. Unlike series like Naruto or One Piece, My Hero Academia takes place in a rather mundane modern world, where the main characters generally live normal lives.

As a result, many of the characters in My Hero Academia still have families and parents who are active in their lives. While not all of these parents are stellar role models, some parents have done their best to support their children as heroes. Here are the best parents in My Hero Academia.

6 David Shield

David Shield

David Shield is a scientist who creates support items for heroes, as well as a former sidekick who worked closely with All Might when he was operating in America. David eventually settled down and had a daughter named Melissa, who he cherishes with all of his heart. Though she was born quirkless, David did his best to encourage her, inspiring her to work in support items like he did.

When David learned that All Might's power was starting to fade, he was unable to accept that the hero he admired was fading away, and tried to steal a device to restore his powers, inadvertently allowing villains to infiltrate the area they were on. David ultimately regretted his actions and apologized to his daughter, who was hurt because of his actions. Despite his poor decisions, David remains a good father to Melissa.

5 Nana Shimura

Nana Shimura

The holder of One for All before All Might, Nana Shimura was a shining example of a hero, one that All Might continued to admire even after succeeding her as the wielder of One for All. While Nana took her duties as a hero seriously, she also managed to get married and have a child of her own named Kotaro Shimura. Nana loved her son and spent a lot of time with him.

Unfortunately, her happy life ended when Nana's husband was killed. Not wanting her son to suffer the same death, she left her son in foster care and erased all connection to him, essentially cutting her ties to him. However, this caused Kotaro to become a bitter man who hated heroes and believed his mother left him behind to focus on being a hero. He would become abusive towards Tenko, his son, and eventually became the catalyst for the birth of Tomura Shigaraki.

4 Ochaco Uraraka's Parents

Ochaco Uraraka's Parents

Ochaco Uraraka is one of the most prominent female heroes in My Hero Academia, and a close friend of Deku. Unlike her fellow classmates Iida and Todoroki, who come from famous hero families, Uraraka's family is fairly normal, owning a fairly simple construction business that hasn't seen the best of times.

Uraraka always wanted to help her parents out, but her parents instead wanted her to follow her own dreams instead, not wanting to burden her with their problems. Seeing her parents work so hard for her sake made Uraraka want to become a Pro Hero so that she could earn money to make her parents' lives easier. All in all, the Uraraka family is a shining example of how kindness towards others begets kindness in turn.

Kyoka Jiro is one of the students in Class 1-A that tends to take on a more supportive role compared to the more standout characters like Todoroki and Bakugo. Despite that, Jiro has occasionally been able to be part of the spotlight from time to time, such as during the U.A. School Festival, where she helped put on a musical show with her class.

Jiro's interest in music came from her parents, who are both musically inclined and fans of rock music. Together, they taught her how to play several instruments and helped nurture her growing passion for music. Despite wanting her to become a musician, Jiro instead wanted to be a hero, a dream her parents accepted and supported. The two remain supportive of her to this day.

2 Iwao Oguro

Iwao Oguro

Appearing in the manga-only My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Iwao Oguro appears using the vigilante identity Knuckleduster. A vicious fistfighter who fought villains with his bare fists, Knuckleduster was on the hunt for someone spreading a peculiar drug known for causing quirks to become stronger at the cost of the user's sanity.

Though he initially came off as a battle-hungry vigilante, it is eventually revealed that the person Knuckleduster was looking for had taken control of his daughter, Tamao Oguro. After a long investigation and a harsh fight against the villain who managed to take control of her body, he finally managed to rescue his daughter and took her to a hospital to recuperate. Knuckleduster risked arrest by becoming a vigilante and threw himself into dangerous situations against vicious villains all to save his only daughter, definitive proof that he is a great father.

1 Inko Midoriya

As the mother of the main character Izuku "Deku" Midoriya, Inko Midoriya wants nothing more than to see her son achieve his dreams. Unfortunately, those dreams were quashed when Midoriya learned that he was quirkless, which meant he would never be able to be a hero. Nevertheless, Inko did her best to support Deku in his aspirations, even though she knew they could never come true.

When Deku suddenly gained a quirk and successfully passed the entrance exam for U.A., Inko began to throw her support for Deku's dreams, making him his first hero suit and watching all of his various events, such as the U.A. Sports Festival. While she still worries and frets over Deku, such as when he shows visible damage from using his quirk, she nevertheless believes in him and his dream to become a hero.
