About Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation

Mushoku Tensei Rudeus

The Mushoku Tensei anime series is based on the light novel series of the same name created by Rifujin na Magonote (story) and Shirotaka (illustration), which follows a 34-year-old recluse who is reincarnated in a fantasy world of magic with his memories intact and is determined to live a better life as Rudeus Greyrat. The most recent season ended this past Sunday on a rather positive note, especially considering the immense tension and emotional themes of the last few episodes.

The upcoming third season is expected to begin adapting the 7th volume of the light novel. Each season of the anime was animated by staff at Studio Bind, with production by Egg Firm. The first season of Mushoku Tensei was split into two parts, the first of which ran for 11 episodes from January to March 2021, with the second running for 12 episodes from October to December that same year.

Like the first season, the second was also split into two, with the first part running for 13 episodes from July to September 2023 and the second from April to July this year. Season 1 was directed by Manabu Okamoto, who was also responsible for series composition, while Kazutaka Sugiyama handled the character designs. Season 2 was directed by Hiroki Hirano, with series composition by Toshiya Ono and character designs by Sanae Shimada and Yoshiko Saitō.

The main cast of the recently-concluded season 2 part 2 include Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki Sakata, Gintama) and Yumi Uchiyama (Puck, Re:Zero) to play Rudeus's inner monologue/past-self and his speaking voice respectively; Ai Kayano (Darkness, KonoSuba) voices Sylphy; Saya Aizawa (Amako, The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic) plays Norn Greyrat; Yūki Takada plays Aisha Greyrat; Konomi Kohara (Chika Fujiwara, Kaguya-sama: Love is War) plays Roxy Migurdia. No production information has been released about the upcoming season at the time of reporting.
