A MultiVersus dev has hinted that Walter White of Breaking Bad could potentially join the fighting game's roster in 2023. Walter White has become one of the most popular memes surrounding MultiVersus, going all the way back to the game's launch mid-2022. Yet while initial requests for Walter White to join MultiVersus' roster were made jokingly, the meme's popularity has made clear Breaking Bad's villainous meth maker would be a very successful addition.Developer Player First Games has been aggressively releasing new characters for MultiVersus since the game's launch. These characters have originated from across the Warner Bros. multiverse. Rick and Morty have joined the roster post-launch, as has The Rock's take on Black Adam. Both Gizmo and Stripe of Gremlins are now in MultiVersus. Even Lebron James, coming off his starring role in Space Jam: A New Legacy, is a part of the roster, showing that everyone is welcome in the fighting game.RELATED: MultiVersus Launches FestiVersus Holiday EventMultiVersus senior character artist Dan Eder has set aflame hope for Walter White's introduction in the new year with a post recently made on Twitter. Player First Games made a post wishing everyone a Happy New Year, promising "big surprises" to come. A fan account made specifically to ask for Walter White in MultiVersus replied, saying, "The only way I'll have a good 2023 is if we see Walter White join MultiVersus. Eder replied in turn, responding to the fan account with the message, "Expect good things."

Eder isn't explicitly stating that Walter White is joining the MultiVersus roster, of course. There are no promises made, and plenty of ambiguity in his message, but fans are certain to run with it anyway. There's little room for interpretation, as Eder is responding to a Walter White-in-MultiVersus fan account specifically asking for Walter White to be added to MultiVersus. It'd be a leap for Eder to backtrack and say he was referring to something else.

Game development is complicated, though, and Eder is a concept artist and not MultiVersus' game director. Even if Eder had foreknowledge that Walter White was being worked on at Player First Games, that doesn't mean the character will ever be finished or that Warner Bros. has fully approved Walter White's inclusion. In other words, a lot can go wrong even if Eder really is saying Walter White is planned for release in 2023.

All MultiVersus fans can do is continue to ask Player First Games and Warner Bros. to add Walter White to the game. Making jokes, sharing memes, and playing MultiVersus, will ensure Player First Games hears and does what it can to make the game exactly what fans want - even if what fans want is the ability to beat Walter White up with Superman.

MultiVersus is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
