MultiVersus is off to a strong start, as many are having fun with the game’s current lineup of content. Recently, the Cromulons stage based on Rick and Morty was added, allowing players to fight below the “show me what you got” heads as they listen to remixed versions of “Get Schwifty” and the show’s theme song. In Season 1, players will also get access to playable versions of Rick and Morty, with a Pickle Rick skin for the former leaking online.

While this is a solid amount of content for one franchise, more can absolutely be done with the Rick and Morty IP. The series has grown to be incredibly popular across its five Seasons, and with Season 6 right around the corner, doubling down on the fan fare would be ideal. From skins and stages to knockout effects and new fighters, the sky is the limit for new MultiVersus updates centered around the adult cartoon.

Possible Rick and Morty Additions For MultiVersus

As far as skins go, Player First Games has some clear opportunities with its two characters. For Morty, an Evil Morty outfit seems like a no-brainer, as it would be as simple as adding an eye patch to the default character model. Simple Rick could be a lot of fun to see included in the skin lineup, while Toxic Rick and Morty would be some solid additions as well. Though it would likely change his hit box a bit, a Tiny Rick skin could be a fun touch as well. Even Cronenberg Rick and Morty could appear as skins at some point.

Emotes for Rick and Morty are even easier to theorize about, as there are plenty of gags from the show that could be worked into the game through the taunts. Rick could fiddle with Butter Bot, Morty could play the tambourine, and Rick could perform the Rick Dance - an emote that was already seen when Fortnite added Rick and Morty content. References to Snake Jazz, Morty’s Mind Blowers, and Interdimensional Cable could all be featured within emotes for the two characters as well.

However, while the two leads of Rick and Morty make the most sense as playable characters, Player First Games does not need to stop there with its roster additions. Bird Person could have a fun move set, especially if the cyborg version from the more recent episodes was included. He could excel at aerial combat, letting players fly into the air and attack from above. Jerry Smith could be a hilarious addition to the lineup, too, with Player First Games taking notes from Tom and Jerry in his design. Much like those two characters are fighting each other and accidentally hitting everyone around them Jerry’s “attacks” could just be him making mistakes when using Rick’s weaponry or bumping into his foes when trying to cower in fear.

While the Cromulons stage is one of the best areas in MultiVersus, it is not the only location from the show that should be playable. The Citadel of Ricks seems like a perfect candidate for a stage, with gamers getting a chance to see variants of Rick and Morty in the background as they fight their opponents. Just like in other MultiVersus stages, the music could serve as a highlight, with a version of the Evil Morty theme being used for the stage.

Knockout effects that incorporate the buff version of Summer, Balthromaw the dragon, and Mr. Nimbus would be fun to see, while an item that summons Mr. Poopybutthole would surely become a fan favorite. With so many options, MultiVersus content based on Rick and Morty could be added for years to come, with both cosmetic and gameplay additions being an option.

MultiVersus is available to play in open beta for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
