MultiVersus is adding a new PvE mode called Rifts. Warner Bros.' crossover fighter MultiVersus has had an interesting history, as the game initially launched in early access and open beta from 2022 to 2023 before going offline. After going quiet for a while, the game was announced as a full release planned for 2024.

Because the game will have essentially launched twice by the end of May, some gamers are concerned about MultiVersus' ability to stay popular. Many players are still excited about the game and eagerly anticipate its release, but as more fighting games with similar appeal have been released in the time the game has been offline, there may be more competition for the attention of fans of the genre. It appears this has been considered because MultiVersus is adding ways to alter its gameplay formula.

A new trailer showing off MultiVersus' Rifts PvE mode has been released. MultiVersus has changed in several ways since its initial launch, including a combat overhaul, and Rifts seems to further distinguish the game from its contemporaries. The mode's appeal is offering a way to play outside of MultiVersus' traditional competitive PvP mode so that players can enjoy themselves regardless of how skilled they are. Rifts' focus appears to be variety, offering ways to spice up gameplay through boss fights and mini-games. In this mode, gameplay is split up into campaigns called rifts, that offer individual battles and challenges referred to as Nodes. Gameplay in Rifts can be altered through Mutators, which are various types of power-ups, such as reflecting damage.

MultiVersus Unveils New PvE Mode

In Rifts mode, players will be able to collect attack, defense, and utility gems as they win battles. These gems can be upgraded, and further alter gameplay through stat boosts and other passive effects such as incorporating damage and mobility buffs. Rifts mode appears to only be the beginning of some unexpected changes that offer varied gameplay to keep gamers interested. Of course, gamers are hoping for other changes, like consistent updates to MultiVersus' impressive roster of characters.

Regarding the game's cast, plenty of players want to see Barbie added to the MultiVersus roster. In terms of keeping attention on the game, such an impressive addition would be a great way to get gamers hyped. Compared to similar games, one thing that Super Smash Brothers games always had above other releases was impressive cast additions, and now that support for the game is over, there haven't been character announcements that draw in a community on the same scale. Amid all the changes coming to MultiVersus, fans are hoping the game has retained its capacity to impress.
