It's official: Warner Brothers' free-to-play platform fighting game MultiVersus is coming back for a full relaunch next week on May 28. After the Banana Guard reveal stirred some controversy among fans last week, the latest trailer for the upcoming free-to-play platform fighter not only revealed some highly-anticipated new fighters, but also plenty of Easter eggs, hints, and teases that prove that there’s plenty more to come from the developers at Player First Games.

When the MultiVersus beta hit the public’s hands in July 2022, it was clear from the outset that anyone in the broad Warner Bros. library could show up as a fighter. There were the obvious roster additions like Batman, Bugs Bunny, the Tasmanian Devil, and Superman, but the game proved it wasn’t afraid of deeper, stranger cuts when it came to roster additions either, with perhaps the most surprising inclusion of the bunch being real-life NBA legend LeBron James.

With the latest trailer for the game outright revealing Matrix antagonist Agent Smith and slasher icon Jason Voorhees as playable characters, fans have their work cut out for them wondering who’s next. Thankfully, the devs have hidden a few hints in the trailer that eagle-eyed viewers may have picked up on.

What Characters Were Teased in the MultiVersus Trailer?

Almost immediately, the trailer begins with a shot of the Warner Bros. water tower, which, while a real life location at the studios in Burbank, is most well-known as the home of the Animaniacs, whose zany, cartoon antics would make for a fantastic fighter, likely as a three-in-one character. Nestled in the background behind the tower are hot air balloons in the shape of Animaniacs' most popular side characters, Pinky and the Brain.

When Bugs launches his safe at the water tower (about 51 seconds into the video), there’s a quick barrage of props and confetti that fly out of the structure’s front door. Among them are a trident, a broomstick, a samurai sword, and a stuffed octopus. While these may be vague objects on their own, they might be hints towards the possible inclusion of Aquaman, Harry Potter, Samurai Jack, and the Powerpuff Girls, the latter of which is an almost surefire inclusion, due to the Townsville map showcased in the very next scene of the trailer.

Around the 1:58 mark, the trailer shifts to what appears to be the Teen Titans tower with a screen featuring Robin’s face in the background. Fans should note that this appears to be the more recent Teen Titans Go! iteration of the character rather than his early 2000s counterpart or any other version.

During the four-way fight between the Wonder Woman variants, an unremarkable table sits in the dark background lit only by the glow of a Green Lantern battery. Next to it is what appears to be a box of Scooby Snacks, indicating the most famous Great Dane in fiction will be joining his pals Velma and Shaggy in due time.

By the time Rick Sanchez appears in the portal (at the 2:11 mark), there are some very obvious hints towards Raven in the background. Though the occult symbols on the wall and her goth purple aesthetic are obvious in this shot, it’s unclear if she would appear as her Teen Titans Go! iteration, Raven from Teen Titans (2003), or a more comic-accurate portrayal.

In what might be the hardest-to-catch Easter egg in the entire trailer, at the 2:18 mark, Rick dashes through Finn and Jake’s Treehouse stage. Only the sharpest of eyes will see Marceline's Axe Bass leaning against the treehouse.

Fans may also note Rick's new voice lines in the trailer. Both Rick and Morty were unique among the MultiVersus beta roster for not having any new dialogue, just clips ripped from the show. The new, game-specific dialogue was likely recorded by Rick and Morty 's new voice actor .

The final shot of the trailer features the Joker, flanked by Jason Voorhees and Agent Smith, the latest additions to the roster. Just before the video cuts to the splash screen announcing MultiVersus' May 28 release date, four more portals seem to open next to Jason and Smith. While there’s no telling exactly who these characters may be, it’s safe to say the devs are teasing additional villains coming to the roster, possibly as many as four coming in Season 1.

There’s clearly so much more coming to the game as the seasons progress, and the surprise reveal of additions like Jason and Agent Smith proves that there’s even hope that Breaking Bad's Walter White may appear in MultiVersus after a lengthy fan campaign during the beta. Though the teases and hints aren't 100% clear, one thing is for certain: some fan-favorites are definitely coming to MultiVersus later this year. It’s just a matter of time.
