Aside from its refined gameplay and charming art style, the game has been lauded for its unique and highly recognizable roster of playable characters.

Being taken from a wide range of Warner Brothers intellectual properties, the range of fighters found in MultiVersus manages to rival those of Super Smash Bros. in terms of their pop culture presence and notoriety. As these properties include that of Cartoon Network, a serious case can be made for the inclusion of the fan-favorite Regular Show duo of Mordecai and Rigby.

A fighting game is defined by the characters that are available to the player, and MultiVersus has a commendable array of choices. Published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the title has the unique benefit of being able to use characters directly from most of the majorly high-profile franchises that come under the Warner Brothers name.

For example, some of the pop-culture defining heroes of DC Comics are available for use within the game, with Superman, Batman, Harley Quinn, and Wonder Woman being currently available within the free-to-play open beta of MultiVersus. Of course, the iconic characters of the famous Looney Tunes cartoons also come under WB, with Bugs Bunny and the Tasmanian Devil currently existing in the game.

Crucially, many properties that come under the storied Cartoon Network name are also eligible for appearances in MultiVersus. The core cast of the popular show Adventure Time have already been implemented to the game, with main character Finn currently dominating the meta of MultiVersus. That being said, fans have been calling for the additional inclusion of Mordecai and Rigby from Regular Show, another Cartoon Network property, and the case for their involvement is quite clear.

With fan desire for the inclusion of Mordecai and Rigby already entering the discourse of MultiVersus, a case can quite easily be made for their introduction to the title. Not only does fan desire exist, but MultiVersus' high number of Cartoon Network stars means that Mordecai and Rigby would feel right at home.

There is already a strong examples of a duo character within MultiVersus, with the iconic characters Tom and Jerry operating as a single playable character in-game; Mordecai and Rigby would be a good opportunity to design another version of the duo character model. The notoriously bizarre Regular Show also provides Mordecai and Rigby with enough experience in wacky, absurd action to be adapted for MultiVersus with ease. Known for its zaniness, the wild and unpredictable plot lines across the eight seasons of the show often see the popular duo fighting a plethora of different beings across time and space. In this way, it actually makes a lot of sense to include Mordecai and Rigby in MultiVersus, as the title's premise of merging universes is essentially a textbook Regular Show storyline.

Interestingly, the director of MultiVersus has stated a desire for Mordecai and Rigby to be included in the game, giving credence to just how good of a match the pair are for the title. Given the broad range of beloved characters that fans have already seen feature within MultiVersus, especially those also from Cartoon Network, it seems like it's only a matter of time before Mordecai and Rigby join the fight.

MultiVersus is available in Open Beta now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
