MultiVersus players are not happy about an apparent change made to a popular game mode with the game's full release, with Free-for-All no longer available online. The highly-anticipated relaunch of the Warner Bros. crossover fighter has already attracted plenty of players to return to its chaotic fun following the game's full release earlier this week. MultiVersus reportedly saw huge player counts topping 100,000 players after its debut, nearly matching its peak counts during the beta's launch. However, fans are noticing one beta game mode is conspicuously absent.

MultiVersus offers players a wide variety of different ways to play the game between its online and offline lobbies. Players can take on friends, bots, and other players in standard 1v1 matches or team up with a friend to challenge others in the game's co-op game mode. MultiVersus also features a PvE game mode in Rifts, giving players a unique way to learn new characters while battling in-game bosses and playing different mini-games. Now, the lack of one game mode's online version is seeing heavy criticism from MultiVersus players.

In a post shared to the MultiVersus subreddit by user Max_vlog, fans are taking note of the lack of online matchmaking for the game's "Free-for-All" mode. Free-for-All features the traditional style of four-player platform fighting popularized by games like Super Smash Bros, with every player fighting against one another. However, the game mode reportedly does not feature an online queue in MultiVersus' full release, despite allowing players to queue up for Free-for-All during the beta. Some fans have also reported the game mode is still accessible in custom online lobbies.

MultiVersus Players are Upset About Missing Online Free-for-All Mode

The lack of matchmaking for Free-for-All was apparently not the only online exclusion in MultiVersus' relaunch, according to other users in the replies. The game's full launch removed the online queue for the game's Co-Op vs. AI game mode, no longer allowing players to team up online against bots. Fans have also pointed out other critical features missing from the release version of the game, including knockout counts after matches and the Ranked ladder for MultiVersus. Neither Player First Games nor Warner Bros. have directly addressed the lack of an online queue for Free-for-All.

While fans report several missing features from the full game, new characters seem to have been a focus for MultiVersus' relaunch. The full version added three new characters to the roster with Jason Voorhees, The Joker, and Adventure Time's Banana Guard with The Matrix's Agent Smith also announced. Leaks and rumors have teased several more potential upcoming characters, including Adventure Time's Marceline and RWBY's titular protagonist, Ruby Rose. The roster of MultiVersus is expected to expand significantly following the game's full release, with multiple characters said to be on the way.
