After confirming the Joker as a playable character, MultiVersus has revealed a terrifying alternate skin for the Clown Prince of Crime, as well as a subtle tease about the next possible addition to the game’s roster. Warner Bros. and developer Player First Games announced MultiVersus as a WB-themed take on the Super Smash Bros. formula back in 2021, with characters from the company’s vast library of franchises battling it out in colorful combat. Players got to try MultiVersus in early access from July 2022 to June 2023, and the full version is finally set to launch on May 28.

The full release of MultiVersus will add new playable characters, with the first one confirmed being the dreaded Joker of DC Comics fame. As an added bonus for fans of the beloved Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham series, MultiVersus’s version of the Joker will be voiced by the legendary Mark Hamill in one of his reported final performances as the Harlequin of Hate. Hamill announced that he would no longer voice the Joker following the death of Kevin Conroy, who also reprised his iconic role of Batman in MultiVersus before passing away in late 2022.

In a Way, MultiVersus is the Antithesis of Mortal Kombat

Although both fighting games are property of Warner Bros., MultiVersus and Mortal Kombat 1 are nearly complete opposite approaches to the genre.

Fans recently got to see the Joker in action during a new MultiVersus gameplay trailer, which starts with the Clown Prince of Crime sneaking into the Batcave and sabotaging the Batcomputer with a virus. From there, Joker goes on a rampage against the rest of the MutiVersus roster, subduing his opponents with various guns and gag items. At one point, he can be seen wearing an alternate skin inspired by the Batman Who Laughs, a nightmarish version of Batman who is infected with Joker Venom and becomes a deadly threat to the entire DC multiverse.

MultiVersus Reveals Batman Who Laughs Joker Skin and Teases Powerpuff Girls

While the latest MultiVersus gameplay trailer was largely centered around the already-confirmed Joker, eagle-eyed viewers were able to spot a clue about another staple of Warner Bros’ fabled line-up of Cartoon Network shows: the Powerpuff Girls. The trio of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup can be spotted at the very beginning of the trailer on the Batcomputer screen, despite not yet being confirmed as playable characters. The Powerpuff Girls were previously listed in a datamine right before MultiVersus went on hiatus back in 2023, and there have been plenty of rumors surrounding their inclusion.

Now it appears that the Powerpuff Girls are finally going to arrive in the full version of MultiVersus, which shouldn’t be all that surprising given their place among the most popular shows to come from the Warner Bros-owned Cartoon Network. They may have their work cut out for them, as the Joker is already confirmed for the game, and he looks even more dangerous as the Batman Who Laughs.
