MultiVersus is now widely available, so long as players are willing to sit through 60 minutes of a Twitch stream to be rewarded with a game code. As with any game launch, and particularly for free-to-play online multiplayer games, MultiVersus has its fair share of bugs. So far, MultiVersus players are able to log on and play consistently. But match-to-match there are some gameplay bugs that can ruin a fight. One hilarious-but-frustrating example is tied to Batman's Bat-Grapple ability.

It's only fitting that one of Batman's abilities in MultiVersus is his iconic grappling gun, a tool the Dark Knight has been using for over 30 years. Much like in the comics, Batman uses the Bat-Grapple ability by aiming and firing, with the grappling rope automatically pulling Batman to his target location. If the target is static and unmoving, this process is relatively simple for MultiVersus to handle. If, for example, an enemy is flying through the air and gets hit by the grappling gun, it gets a bit more complicated.

In most cases, regardless of when and how Batman hits a moving target with his Bat-Grapple ability, Batman will be pulled to the point of impact. In rare cases, however, Batman will be launched in an unpredictable direction with incredible force. These bugged-out Bat-Grapples frequently lead to the instant demise of Batman, barring a wall or other obstacle interrupting his death flight.

As for how Batman players can avoid the bug, there's only so much that can be done. It's all but impossible to avoid mistiming a Bat-Grapple or for the chaos of a match interrupting a Bat-Grapple with a flying target. In most cases, these meandering Bat-Grapples probably won't lead to a random death. When it does, players should remember to record a clip so that the absurdity of the situation can be seen by all and enjoyed by MultiVersus players across the world.

MultiVersus developer Player First Games has not commented on the Batman Bat-Grapple bug or any other bug for that matter. It's still very early after MultiVersus' Early Access launch, so it isn't clear how updates and hotfixes will be handled by the development team. Don't be surprised if the team already knows about it and is investigating, though. The time it takes to fix will be dependent on how complex the bug is.

The Batman grappling bug isn't the first and won't be the last bug in MultiVersus. There's a nasty bug that appears tied to the rollback netcode that glitches characters across the screen, as well as daily first-win rewards only granting 100 Gold instead of 200 Gold. There's even the beloved Looney Toons character named Bugs, who will make Google searching for actual in-game bugs frustrating going forward. MultiVersus is technically still in beta, with an official launch for later this year.

MultiVersus is available now via Twitch Drops on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S with a full release later this year.
