The recently released MultiVersus has proven to be quite a hit within the fighting game community and beyond, primarily thanks to its gripping gameplay and captivating roster of playable characters. With the in-game fighters being comprised of beloved characters from a litany of Warner Brothers franchises, the scope of appeal knows no bounds.
Given the wide range of characters available in MultiVersus, there is an equally varied categorization of classes that are important to grasp. Denoting different attack types and play styles, understanding the game's different classes is imperative to understanding the title's mechanics and metas.
Bruiser Class in MultiVersus
The bruiser class within MultiVersus can either be very straightforward or quite complex, depending on which character a player is using. Bruiser fighters can be best characterized as the sensible middle ground between dealing high damage and having an increased level of damage resilience.
Batman, Shaggy, Jake, Garnet, and Taz are Bruisers, possessing relatively basic levels of attack that can become much more complex and varied with experience. While this damage is usually typified by close-quarters combat, Bruisers are usually bolstered with unique gadgets and wildcard abilities, such as Batman's Batarang and Jake's stretchy long-range capabilities.
Tank Class in MultiVersus
Many will already be familiar with the role of a Tank from other games, with it being one of the most important and commonplace roles in team-based gameplay. A Tank class is one that is designed to absorb comparatively larger amounts of damage, without it being as detrimental or running as high of a risk of being "ringed out."
Tank classes in MultiVersus currently include Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Iron Giant. A blend of defense and offense, Tanks can additionally deal a solid amount of damage, while also possessing crowd control and stun abilities that can help take the heat off teammates even further in battle.
Support Class in MultiVersus
The current roster of support classes in MultiVersus include Steven Universe, Velma, and an entirely unique character called Reindog, which was created solely for the game. Quite simply, support classes at their core are specifically designed to directly aid teammates during combat with a range of abilities.
These abilities can come in the form of providing damage and defense buffs for teammates or even "tethering" mechanics that can see the player save a teammate from falling off a stage. Despite their overt focus on aiding teammates, support classes can equally be viable in individual fights.
Assassin Class in MultiVersus
Perhaps one of the most complex class types in the game is that of Assassin-type fighters in MultiVersus. Boasting a current roster of Arya Stark, Finn, and Harley Quinn, Assassin-types are purely focused on dealing huge amounts of damage.
Usually relying on stun-heavy combos to trap and suffocate opponents, Assassins can be some of the most useful and effective characters at higher levels. This being said, Assassin-types are decidedly weak defensively to compensate for their high offensive output, necessitating experience and caution in their gameplay.
Mage Class in MultiVersus
Mage classes within MultiVersus are another example of a class that provides more complex and unique gameplay. As it stands, the current selection of Mage fighters are Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry, making it the least populated class type within MultiVersus.
Mage classes are characterized by the scope of range behind their attacks, being able to deal huge damage from both close and afar. Being able to lay traps and influence the environment with different forms of summons, Mage gameplay can be extremely difficult to deal with when being dealt by the hands of an experienced player.
With the sheer range of class types available in the game, it is no wonder that MultiVersus is currently so popular.
