Live service games receive regular updates to better balance the online experience for players. Oftentimes these updates come in the form of buffs and nerfs that seek to power-up a character or weaken them, respectively. Free-to-play crossover fighting game MultiVersus is no exception, and even though it just recently launched Season 1, it has already seen major changes to various characters on its roster.

Looking forward, fans can expect developer Player First Games to continue tweaking MultiVersus and its characters to better balance the game. MultiVersus director Tony Huynh recently confirmed as much on Twitter, pointing out two characters specifically that may be in line for buffs in coming updates. Huynh said that the development team will be looking at buffing Taz and Garnet, and he is seeking community feedback about it.

What's interesting about this is that Taz was previously nerfed, having been deemed too powerful at one point in time. It seems as though MultiVersus' attempt to nerf Taz went a little too far, as the developers are now considering ways to make him a more viable option. It will be interesting to see what the team comes up with, and if any Taz buffs end up making him too powerful again. Fans of the game will have to wait and see what happens.

It's unclear exactly when the next set of MultiVersus buffs will be coming, but fans can expect the game to be updated on a regular basis. In fact, the game's next big update is scheduled to drop mere days from now, on August 23. August 23 will see Morty Smith from Rick and Morty added to the MultiVersus roster, and while it's possible that Morty's debut will be the only change, it's also possible the update will include more balance changes and the like. The official patch notes should provide more clarification on that front.

Looking ahead, there should be many more MultiVersus updates released in the coming months. At minimum, fans can expect four new MultiVersus characters to release between now and when Season 1 ends on November 15. Besides Morty, Rick Sanchez, Black Adam, and Stripe from Gremlins have also been confirmed for the MultiVersus roster.

Besides new characters, MultiVersus updates are also expected to add new game modes. MultiVersus arcade and ranked modes are both expected to release at some point before Season 1 wraps up, so fans can expect substantial new content additions alongside the balance changes.

MultiVersus is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
