MultiVersus brings players familiar faces to choose from with its character pool. The platform fighter features many Warner Bros. affiliated characters, including some Steven Universe cast members. Garnet, in particular, is a popular choice among players due to her versatility.

Garnet is a recommended character in MultiVersus with surprising move sets that, if used correctly, are undeniably powerful. As players battle with characters, the character level increases, and they can claim Perks to give their teams advantages and rise in the ranks. Players can begin strategizing their play style by training one character regularly and mastering their moves. Additionally, Perks are a bonus that can bring a character to the next level and make them harder to defeat in matches. Perks are offensive, defensive, or utility-typed advantages characters can earn. Perks usually affect damage output, evasiveness, projectiles, and speed, but there are more unique ones. Furthermore, some Perks can only be attained through gameplay and are character exclusive, which is another good motivator for sticking it out with one character.

Garnet in MultiVersus

MultiVersus Garnet Variant

Garnet is known for being an iconic character in Steven Universe. In the TV series, her sense of humor is cut and dry, and she carries an air of royalty and intimidation. Garnet's character in MultiVersus shares her dry and on-the-nose way of talking with her quips of dialogue, but her power is also matched. In-game, she is considered a "Bruiser" and is strongest when engaged in up close and personal hand-to-hand combat. However, she has various projectile attacks as well, making her well-rounded. Garnet also utilizes electricity-based attacks; many of her earned Perks boost her damage rate or assist with her abilities.

Best Perks for Garnet

Players have many Perks they can choose from, but some are more useful to certain characters than others. Choosing Perks wisely based on character selection can be the difference between winning or losing a match, so here are some of the best Perks for Garnet.

Percussive Punch PowerMultiVersus Percussive Power Punch Perk

Percussive Punch Power is best for horizontal attacks as it increases the damage rate. Garnet's grounded side attack is already a powerhouse of a move, but when paired with this Perk, it gets a 5% increase. This can be doubled in 2v2 matches if a teammate also equips the Perk.

Make It Rain, Dog!MultiVersus (5)

For players that like to play the distance game, Make It Rain, Dog! is a great boost for projectile attacks. Garnet uses two projectiles: her gloves and an electric charge. Both are special moves, so they can be essential parts of Garnet's win strategy when they land by stunning the target, allowing her to get close enough to make her move. In addition, this Perk gives projectiles a 20% speed boost that is bumped up to 25% when an ally uses it.

Speed Force Assist

MultiVersus Speed Force Assist Perk

Due to Garnet's nature of moves and fight style, she tends to move slower. Her powerful attacks have an extended recovery period, so players must be quick to act with their follow-up. Speed Force Assist alleviates some of this by increasing Garnet's base speed by 4% in single matches and 8% in team matches.

Signature Perk: Electric Groove

MultiVersus Garnet Signature Perk Electric Groove

Every MultiVersus character has Signature Perks. These Perks are character exclusive and are earned through fighting. For example, garnet has two Signature Perks, but Electric Groove works the best with her defensive move sets because it applies Shocked to her opponents when she or an ally are granted stacks of Rhythm. Shocked means the target is damaged over time and also damages any allies they come in contact with.

While these are solid Perks for Garnet, players should feel free to mix and match Perks to find ones that fit their playstyle. Garnet is a fantastic offensive choice with some support moves, so other Perks might be better depending on what moves players are going to throw.

MultiVersus is now available in open beta for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
