Playstyle & Strategies

lebron james bruiser character

Before knowing the optimal perks for LeBron, players must first understand his playstyle, especially since he boasts of being one of the most mechanically difficult characters in the game. He is not a beginner-friendly champion and is advised by the game itself to be picked up by intermediate and advanced players. LeBron is a hybrid brawler with mage-like abilities when equipped with his balls playing from range and is melee centered when they are out of play or on cooldown.

His kit is centered around the usage of his basketballs. He requires the player to space effectively and adequately play around his basketballs. LeBron James is also unique because his moves differ depending on whether he has a ball equipped or not, with his equipped state offering a more comprehensive range of stronger attacks than his unequipped state. Every move and ability of his is different depending on whether he is equipped with a ball or not, allowing for some interesting combo mixes and surprise attacks, leaving players on their toes wondering what they will do next.

He starts the game with a basketball already equipped. He throws and catches the ball to start combos, predict or control player movement, apply pressure, destroy projectiles, mix up his combos, or even zone enemy players. The basketballs are slow-moving projectiles but pack a punch with great knockback that can put you in a hit stun, pass through and destroy smaller projectiles. Use this to control the court and play on your terms.

When LeBron's ball is out of play, he can equip another ball using his special. After that, if his ball goes out of play, he has to either wait a few seconds for it to automatically spawn back or land a melee attack against his opponent.

LeBron is dexterous and can be on top in most matchups, depending on the proficiency of the players piloting him. These perks can give him an edge in close matches, increase his chances of winning tougher matchups, or modify his playstyle.

Leg Day Champ

Perk Type: Utility

Ability: This perk increases the player's jump distance by 10 percent when equipped. The bonus is increased to 15 percent if also equipped by an ally.

How to Acquire: Unlocked after reaching mastery level 11 on LeBron James.

Tip: This perk is preference based, as "Triple jump" is also a good substitution. Use this perk to gain extra height to prevent you from falling off the platform and getting knocked out.

Keep Possession

Perk Type: Signature.

How To Acquire: Reach mastery level 12 with LeBron James.

Ability: When LeBron or his allies receive a pass, they gain grey health.

Tip: This ability gives grey health, a temporary buff that partially absorbs some of the damage your character takes. This Signature perk is better in 1v1 matches where the gray health slightly increases his survivability but can especially be useful in those dire 2v2 scenarios where the extra health could be the difference in getting eliminated.

Hot Hands

Perk Type: Signature.

How To Acquire: Reach mastery level 8 with LeBron James.

Ability: If LeBron successfully completes a no-look pass to his ally, the ball is ignited. If LeBron dunks an ignited ball, it ignites all damaged enemies and creates a firewall on the floor.

Tips: This perk increases LeBron's skill and makes him a formidable force in 2v2 matches. This perk lets his basketballs do bonus ignite damage to enemies allowing him access to constant ignite damage when he completes his no-look passes.

Make it Rain, Dog!

Perk Type: Offensive.

How To Acquire: Reach mastery level 2 on LeBron James.

Ability: Your team receives a 10% increased projectile speed. The bonus is increased to 25% if equipped by an ally.

Tips: This perk is an absolute no-brainer as LeBron's basketballs are slow-moving and would heavily benefit from the movement speed increase, giving the enemies less time to react to them. Using this perk with a projectile-focused champion like Gizmo could be a devastating force in the game.

Ice To Beat You

Perk Type: Offensive.

How To Acquire: Reach mastery level 12 on Steven Universe.

Ability: Your team's projectiles deal with one stack of ice debuff if they knock back an enemy. It is increased to 2 stacks of Ice if equipped by an ally.

Tips: This perk is extremely useful in slowing enemies down and can constantly stack as the basketball hits the enemy repeatedly, increasing the slow and ultimately freezing the enemy at max ice stacks. This perk makes enemies easier to hit as they are slowed and can be especially useful against fast and slippery characters.
