This past week developer Player First Games announced that it would have to delay Season 1 of MultiVersus, the highly anticipated release of the platform fighting game's rotation of new content. Delayed content included the Season 1 battle pass, as well as new characters Rick and Morty. The status of the next MultiVersus balance patch is also in question. While Season 1's release date is up in the air, Player First is still moving forward. It's now revealed a partial Season 1 roadmap, including a new Ranked game mode.MultiVersus has just wrapped up its first major in-person tournament as part of EVO 2022. Given the status of the event, it's not surprising that Player First decided to share an announcement during the event. However, with the delay of Season 1, the announcement came at somewhat of an awkward time. The result is a partial roadmap for Season 1, which still doesn't have a release date. The roadmap does confirm some exciting new content coming to MultiVersus, however.RELATED: MultiVersus Battle Pass Progression Could Be Shared Between 2 PlayersThe first major announcement of the MultiVersus Season 1 roadmap is the introduction of a Ranked mode. The image shown implies that this "New Ranked Mode" could be a 1v1 ladder. MultiVersus' ongoing Open Beta does not currently have ranked play, but it does have MMR to create skill-based matchmaking. A fully ranked mode is highly requested, though, so it's unsurprising that Player First is prioritizing the feature while the Open Beta is ongoing.

The second announcement of the roadmap is a Classic Arcade Mode. This is assumed to be a traditional game mode featuring a Players vs. AI ladder, perhaps akin to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Classic game mode. The image on the roadmap does imply that the ladder can be played cooperatively, though. More information will likely be shared close to the Classic Arcade Mode's release.

While those are the two biggest revelations, there are more announcements to be found in the MultiVersus Season 1 roadmap reveal. For one, while players already knew Rick and Morty were coming in Season 1, there are apparently more characters to come. There are also two new skins shown, LeBron James as Robin and Bugs Bunny's Brunnhilde.

MultiVersus' Season 1 roadmap announcement may not have gone according to plan due to the delay of the season's start, but it's certainly something the community will appreciate as it waits. Expect further information regarding Player First's new release schedule for Season 1 in the weeks to come.

MultiVersus is available now in Open Beta on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
