Highlights

  • Fans of AEW want Kenny Omega in MultiVersus, and their request was positively received by other players.
  • Real-world figures like LeBron James have been added to the game, so Omega wouldn't feel too out of place on the roster.
  • Kenny Omega's connection to video games, pop culture, and WB-owned networks makes his inclusion plausible.

Although MultiVersus is home to many characters spread through WB-owned properties, fans of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) took to social media to request that "The Cleaner" Kenny Omega be added to the game in a future update. In response, the request from MultiVersus players was met with positive reaffirmation from other fans.

In MultiVersus, various characters from DC Comics and television shows like HBO's Game of Thrones and Cartoon Network's Adventure Time are pitted against each other in a fighting game inspired by the Super Smash Bros. series. While MultiVersus' repertoire of characters that could come into the game may be limited to characters owned or licensed by WB, that has not stopped real-world figures such as NBA star LeBron James from being added as playable characters in MultiVersus. In the case of LeBron James, his appearance in MultiVersus is based on his role in the 2021 film Space Jam: A New Legacy.

MultiVersus Players Aren't Happy About Missing Game Mode

MultiVersus players are pitching complaints after a popular game mode is noticeably absent from the platform fighter's full release.

With athletes and superheroes already in MultiVersus, players have taken to the idea of a beloved professional wrestler joining the fray. A Reddit user named cartoons01 posted their request on the r/AEWFightForever subreddit and posited the idea of Kenny Omega being a MultiVersus character with other fans. In their post, cartoons01 took a screenshot from AEW Fight Forever of "The Cleaner" coming to the ring for a match and then shared the MultiVersus key art to prove their point. While Omega has appeared in AEW Fight Forever, he is also known for his cameo as a Legendary Trooper Card in Like A Dragon: Ishin alongside other celebrities and content creators.

AEW Fans Want Kenny Omega Added to WB's MultiVersus

In addition to his appearance in Like A Dragon: Ishin, Omega is also a fan of video games and popular culture. Omega has integrated his passion for games into his moves and wrestling attire, which made him an AEW fan-favorite. Omega's signature finishing move, the One-Winged Angel, is a nod to the iconic final boss theme from Final Fantasy 7. At the New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) event Wrestle Kingdom 17, Omega took to the ring dressed in an outfit inspired by Sephiroth, with his entrance theme being "One-Winged Angel: Rebirth" from Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Since WB owns the networks that broadcast AEW's weekly shows in the US, the request from cartoons01 is plausible. While leaks and rumors about MultiVersus' future character additions have made the rounds, only time will tell if their wish for Kenny Omega to be added will be granted.
