Today's MultiVersus update finally adds the anticipated ranked game mode which will allow players to fight others more competitively rather than standard, custom, or practice. Since its early access release from alpha and beta testing phases, some MultiVersus players have requested a ranked game mode, and developers are ready to test it this week.

MultiVersus has confirmed that update 1.06 comes with the beginnings of a ranked mode which will continue to evolve like the rest of the game as the developers receive fan feedback. While MultiVersus beta players helped developers balance characters and fix glitches, the early access phase of the fighting game includes the ranked mode which will require its own adjustments. Unlike other popular live service games that were released with competitive modes like Overwatch 2 or Valorant, MultiVersus shares more in common with games like Apex Legends or Fortnite which added them with audience demand.

MultiVersus developers have detailed all the changes that players can expect in update 1.06, primarily revolving around character balance and bug fixes. Patch 1.06 kicks off the anticipated Season 1 addition of MultiVersus' ranked battle alpha which will run until November 15, leaving players only one week to try the competitive game mode. The ranked alpha includes MultiVersus team battles and 1v1, with players that win 15 ranked sets during the testing week being rewarded with an alpha-exclusive Triumphant Toast Alpha profile icon which may provide profile flair.

The MultiVersus ranked alpha will help players track their online ladder progress through ranked points which are distributed at the conclusion of each online match. MultiVersus developers have asked players that participate in the ranked alpha to report any issues that they run into in order to prepare the competitive mode for an official addition to the lineup of game modes. Prioritizing the ranked mode coming to MultiVersus, the only other things highlighted for update 1.06 are a number of adjustments for the recently added Black Adam and smaller changes for Bugs Bunny, Jake the Dog, LeBron James, and Tom and Jerry.

While many MultiVersus players expressed their enthusiasm for the addition of a ranked mode to the game, others criticized the game for missing it until update 1.06. As some fans have already reported some problems with the MultiVersus ranked game mode, others voiced unrelated grievances like being unable to select a character or matchmaking length.

MultiVersus is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
